Morning Everyone

Please excuse my ignorance, I keep reading about krytox and how good it is. I know it is a lubricant.

How, where and when do you apply it to the eos?

What are the postives and negatives.

It it expensive?

Is it worth it?

What else can you tell me.

Regards

Rob

its about £30 for a very small bottle you will deffo need it at some point before your seals start creaking but you only use a small amount on your finger as you go along, there is a complete instruction on how and where to use it on here some where someone will tell ya where it is when they read this. ask your dealer to order you a bottle , try to get it for free first you never know its worth a try

Everything you ever wanted to know about troubleshooting VW EoS roof leaks, with photos: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3087297.

Before I purchased, my VW sales rep operated the top when the car was outside with lots of standing water on the roof and it created a wet spot in the back of the trunk. I have not had the problem since I took ownership, I never open the top unless it is dry first, and my top has never leaked in the rain. I bought one of the little bottles of Krytox from a VW dealer that sells parts at a discount on-line and have self-maintained the seals - It is easy to do and saves me the hassle of a dealer visit and saved me paying full retail price for the Krytox at a dealership parts counter.

Good luck.

I've never seen this Zarox before. I've heard that Krytox may be what VW uses but as VW pt#G 052 172 A1 but no definite statement. Krytox is made by DuPont if I remember. The VW product says it is made in the US. If you have an 07 Eos it is specified as the stuff to use in Booklet 3.1 (I think). If you have an 08 you may not have to use it. Please carefully check the the owners manual. Supposedly there is an improved roof seal made of a different compound used on 08s and as the replacement on 07s. You probably could use the Krytox/VW compound without an issue. It supposedly does not attack the rubber in the seals.

Steph xx I think I would wait until the car arrives and then check to see what its owner manual has to say about how to take care of the roof seals which is mainly where it is used. You could also research for best price if the need to purchase arises.

Andy is correct in that it won't damage any type of seal. Any type of natural or synthetic "rubber" will not be harmed. It will also make all types much more pliable and therefore increase the sealing properies of the seals.

Krytox is an inert and excellent lubricant. It won't damage your seals or moving parts.

I use it for stuff other than the car as it is so good!!!
