: Fold in Mirrors
Bill T 02-19-2008, 07:15 AM  Hi Again All
Any one out there got fold in heated mirrors on there Eos, would just like to know can you fold in the mirrors on the move I mean at speeds above 30mph.
I find it awkward as you turn the mirror knob clockwise and pass the fold position to the heated position the mirrors fold in and stay in, the only way to avoid this happening is to turn the knob anticlockwise to the heated position.
On an Audi I had the mirrors would only fold below 10mph and may be Eos mirror set up is wrong?

justcarkits 02-19-2008, 07:25 AM Mine can also be operated at any speed. Have just got used to rotating the control to avoid the fold-in setting, except where appropriate.
lordy 02-19-2008, 09:23 AM Further to the above, I've ordered the luxury pack on my Eos, do the mirrors automatically fold when the car is locked (if not, can they be set to to do so?), or do you have to do it manually every time?
Bill T 02-19-2008, 12:24 PM Hi Lordy
No you will have to fold in the mirrors before you lock the vehicle, there is no way it can be done after you have locked the car that I know of, you can however shut the windows and the sun roof from outside the car but you have to put the key in the door lock to so.

jjbtexas 02-20-2008, 01:04 AM i have to fold mine to fit in the garage, sometimes i will drive for 10-15 min without noticing
janevj 02-20-2008, 01:17 PM i have the heated mirrors on my 08 eos but im not sure if i have the folding option ... howdo i check it out !?
Stephb 02-20-2008, 01:47 PM did you add the luxury pack? if you did it has them if not then i dont think it will :)
Steph xx
jjbtexas 02-21-2008, 12:12 AM when u rotate the knob to heat them or move them, the folding will be on the top left, atleast, thats how it is on my 08
lanmarc 02-24-2008, 10:19 AM Probably should have replied earlier with this, but here is a picture of the mirror switch in a MY08 EOS showing the mirror fold position at the top left.
My EOS has the luxury package but no folding mirrors..... it does have heated mirrors which work great.
U.S. car - not sure why
ajcordeiro 07-10-2008, 02:42 PM Did any one retrofit ones with folding function? It's only buying the mirrors with the folding function or need any module?
I remember VW Passat 3BG has the folding mirrors control at the front windows motor lifters, so if I bouhgt only the mirrors with folding function they still not working.
Thanks & Regards.

maybe you dont need them ...some of our uk roads are small and tight ...horses not cars where the main form of transport when they where made... the folding mirors have helpped me out a few times ...:)
Dobbo 07-10-2008, 08:58 PM I have folding mirrors and I discovered that if the switch is set to L and I select reverse it auto dips the near side mirror so that you can see the curb. If it is set to 0 or R it doesn't dip. Its amazing what you find out by accident :)

evolvingpowercat 08-17-2008, 04:40 PM My 07 Eos 'Sport' level model also has the heating elements in the glass of the side view mirrors and in mine you rotate the mirror adjust knob 180 degrees to turn them on, it is labeled on the knob panel surround with a little heater icon. There does not seem to be any indicator light indicating they are on so you can notice they are on to help you remember to turn them back off after your side mirrors are dry.
I replaced my mirror glass with the blue tinted euro glass. With the glass out you can see that there is a electric heater on back of each mirror glass with 2 pin connector.
On my 07 my mirrors can be folded manually by hand but not electrically from the drivers door button.
cb391 08-17-2008, 06:02 PM Randy,
I have the same package but as I recall the mirror heaters are on the mirror adjust switch and work separately from the rear window which is the climate control button button group. The heaters in the mirrors are actually in the glass? Didn't know that as I haven't played with them (yet).
evolvingpowercat 08-18-2008, 03:24 AM Sorry I posted incorrect informantion from memory. I drove my car and realized what the correct information is, and it is now corrected in my post above.

Its confirmed that needs replacing the windows motors for others with the fold function.
SimonV 12-01-2008, 09:36 PM Mine do fold in at any speed and thinking about it will reduce drag slightly at speed thus giving a slight fuel saving :-)
Not saying I would try it but it is just a thought....

I might be missing something here, but if the garage is so narrow that you have to fold the mirrors to get the car into the garage, how do you open the car door to get out - or did you get an Eos, so you could leave the roof down, and climb out over the door?
Eos_Up 12-02-2008, 01:11 AM I've got a double garage, but it's rather narrow. In order to make more room, I back the Eos in right along the edge and it saves a bit of room if I "fold" the mirrors to get by the edge of the door. I've actually driven a half mile or so before noticing the mirrors were still folded.

The British disease has spread to the US!
Here nothing is ever quite big enough: when you park at the supermarket there isn't quite enough room to open the door and get out without bashing the car next to you; your garage is never quite wide enough.
I thought in the US everything was just a bit bigger than it needed to be?!

Given the width of a full sized Chevvy or Buick, you've got real problems if an Eos is too wide.
