: EOS on the TV
Bill T 03-06-2007, 08:42 AM :) Hi All
I see that the Gadget show on channel Five at 7.15pm Monday 12th March will be featuring the EOS with some kind of MP3 test.
Don't see the EOS on the TV very often so should be interesting.

Lynne 03-10-2007, 02:21 PM I will Sky+ that to watch!
Also, anyone seen an eos tv advert lately?! I know it is just coming out of winter but i though they would have started their advertising campaign again by now!
Laura H 03-10-2007, 03:26 PM The advert on tv will be big I think when summer comes. Sales of convertibles die off in the winter.

Perhaps its not just the season thats stopping the advertising so much as the lack of cars!. Just looking around this forum at the ewaiting times indicates VW are not supplying all that many.
For those of us who have them its nice to enjoy a bit of exclusivity at least for a little while.
Laura H 03-10-2007, 03:42 PM My sister was told by someone in VW, they are only making alimited few then they will be stopped.
Be interesting if they do. Resale will be good.

I hope thats the case as well. But I suspect that if they are seeing such a big demand they will probably ramp up production. But since its obviously very popular and a great car, I suspect the residual values will be good as well.
Pepino 03-10-2007, 04:40 PM I read in a review article here in the US that VW was only going to initally introduce 16000 cars in the American market to I guess "test the waters." This is good for us that already have one, but I think once TV advertisments hit, the car will be in extreme demand and VW will up the import. This was a magazine that published in November 06. so I don't know if the numbers have changed since.

Sorry but that's b*ll*cks! VW don't spend millions developing a car to build just a few; they spend it to make money and that means making as many as they can sell for as long as they can sell them!
This reminds of the most stupid dealer I ever met when I went to look at a Vauxhall Calibra when they first came out: I was told I would never be able to get one as they were hardly making any and were going to be very selective who got them! Yeah, right!
Lynne 03-12-2007, 11:39 PM so did you all see the eos on the gadget show?! they were trying the itrip in the car which is what i got. a damn site cheaper that the £150 vw were going to charge (if they would have let me get it with my options for the car!)
Lynne 03-12-2007, 11:39 PM PS car was lovely in silver with red nappa! :D
smoggypaul 03-13-2007, 04:55 AM Yes I do think the price they charge is a rip off - how can it be more expensive than the actual iPod?? I have an early FM transmitter and it works just fine [most of the time, I've moved it through a few hire cars and noticed that reception does vary from car to car, presumably depends where the in-car radio aerial is located?] - the only thing is that the VW solution is neater, and although the glovebox connection sounds a useful tool, I need the power cable too as in the course of my daily commute I can flatten my iPod Nano batteries easily!
Missed the programme, unfortunately, but from what you say the car wasn't the star anyway?
Paul:cool:

Hi Lynne,
Just a quick question. Why would you want a 6 disk CD changer and an ipod, surely you could just load the ipod with all your tunes?
Lynne 03-13-2007, 09:31 AM well you would think that would do me but it doesn't! i like to keep my cds in the flat and get really bored listening to the same music so i have both! i have all my cheesy songs from my youth(!) on the ipod and all my new cds in the car! there really is no rationale why i don't have everything on my ipod, i just suppose i never get around to updating it that quickly!!!
yeah, battery life is rubbish on my nano too so might get a wee charger for the car! :D

Hi Paul,
my handbook is at home, so i will check later, but my understanding is that the ipod is also charged whilst connected with the cable in the glove box.
The ipod is connected via the mulitipin dock connector at the bottom of the ipod (well it is on my nano)
Paul..

What? Car manufacturers ripping you off? The shame of it!

ah, I see - ignorance on my part! Still, I've paid for the iPod connection now so I'm not going to gripe!
