Whoo hoo! First post in the SE US forum!

Live between Atlanta and Athens, GA. Only saw another black Eos in my town and a grey Eos in Atlanta. Pretty rare round these parts...

Atlnta here too... actually Sandy Springs. Saw a Thunder Blue on the road in Marietta/Smyrna. I am getting a Thunder Blue one too. At the dealer a black one was just sold as well.

It appears that I will be in my white EOS within a week. I've been holding out for a straight shift. The "manual" shifter on the Triptonic is like riding with training wheels, IMHO.

I love my 6sp manual. Wife hates is because she can't chat on the phone, eat, read, sleep, etc... while trying to drive...:D She never learned and we have been trying to have practice in a neighborhood that is under construction, but her patience is short lived. BTW, we found out that you can spin the wheels in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears...

I couldn't imagine having the car any way else.

Enjoy it!

congrats... don't bash on the DSG. It is great if you aren't into shifting manually all the time. Manual is great if that is what you want... just not for me.

I am test-driving a manual tomorrow at Gossett in Alpharetta.

I hear that is the best dealer now... My in-laws bought their past 3 cars from that owner (different makes).

I looked at them... but Jim Elis in Marietta had the best deal for me

Pepino
03-21-2007, 05:57 PM
What's funny is I hate the Athens dealer, and the Jim Ellis had the exact same trim I ended up getting, but they wanted nearly $3000 more! So I had to buy from Athens. Who cares I guess... when the deal is right...

I was very firm on what I wanted and what I would pay and they knew it would be a firm sale if they did what I wanted.

I opted for every option except the DSG. It is fun but I still prefer a manual

How do you like the Thunder Blue... I have seen pictures where it looks really blue and others where it looks almost black. Mine is due to arrive next week.

I like it a lot. It is very dark. Depends on the light. I have a few low quality pics posted that a friend took of my car. Here is the thread.

Hi Folks!

I leased my Paprika Red with Black interior model from Heritage Volkswagon in Lithia Springs. So far it's the only one of that color I've seen in Atlanta.

Since all the cars I've possessed have been named after characters from The Fellowship of the Ring, I couldn't be happier with this one. Add a few characters, and Eos becomes Legolas.

A special shout out goes to the pretty blond who honked at me from your Candy White beauty on Peachtree Road last week near Lenox Square!!

Tolkien named his red Eos Legolas... mine is nameless thus far. It still has to earn a name... great car, but we are still early in the relationship for pet names. :p

Regarding names.......

When I was 6 my favourite Aunt bought me a toy car which I promptly named as 'my Beauty Car'. Having struggled to find a name for my Eos the problem was solved when my Mother (aged 90) set eyes on it for the first time and exclaimed "this is just like your Beauty Car!" So a family story got a new chapter. And, I should add that she was absolutely thrilled with the drive along Blackpool prom with the roof down!! So much so that she is disappointed if my wife provides a lift in one of my daughters cars.

Hi Folks!

Sethworld, I was actually in Boston on that date, so it probably wasn't me you saw in Sandy Springs. I guess that confirms that I am no longer the sole owner of a Paprika Red Eos in metro Atlanta. But it was inevitable. There are at least two on the lot at Heritage VW in Lithia Springs that have exactly the same trim as Legolas, and I'm betting they won't stay there very long.

Besides, lately I've been er, testing the car's sound system, so there's a good chance that you'll hear me a good bit before you see me. If The Beatles, Isley Brothers, or Weather Report are playing at a good clip, it's probably me.

I do hope we get a few solid days of rain in Georgia to bring some drought relief and reduce the fire risks. But in the meantime, I'm enjoying the warm, dry, top-down weather.

It was somewhat upsetting yesterday... I was leaving work in Athens heading back to the ATL direction and it was 93 outside! I was actually a little uncomfortable. Beautiful... yes... hot... YES. Top was down regardless, but I need to remember my sunscreen if I keep this up. Been here all my life, but I keep forgetting that ATL can get awfully hot this time of year.

Hi!

Picked up my 2008 EOS LUX Island Grey/Cornsilk Monday!

LOVE IT!

Went to the dealership Friday evening to look at a New Beetle - didn't know there was such a thing as an EOS! Went back Saturday to test drive the beetle and EOS. Did alot of research on the internet Sunday. Called Monday to see if they could find an Island Grey/Cornsilk EOS. As luck would have it, one was at port and they got it to the dealership for me that afternoon.

I'm so happy!

I live in the Vinings area. I'm mostly around Vinings, Sandy Springs, Buckhead, Mid-Town. I have yet to see ONE EOS on the roads. Where are they? What area do you live in/travel about? I really do love my car, I've had the top down all week and that's where it will stay until it rains! I'm looking forward to fall.

Started to post in the Southeast but settled on the Eastern thread. I'm a Georgia boy born in Atlanta and raised in Acworth (small town between Marietta and Cartersville). Settled in Virginia when I retired from the Military.

I did not consider Virgina part of the southern states because up here you have to ask for sweet tea. If I remember right, in GA you'll get sweet everytime if you do not ask for the unsweet. Sometimes I miss that GA red clay.

Next trip back home I'll pack light and drive the EOS.

It'll just make your Eos hard to clean.

I saw a woman recently at our grocery store standing next to my car trying sooo hard to unlock it. She had her key fob out and at this point she was trying the key in the door. I was walking out with a grin because three cars down was another black Eos (obviously hers) and she was getting upset.

She was embarrassed, but we had a fun chat on the (no longer) rarity of the vehicles.

It looks as though this group is pretty much dead as there as not been any posts to it in over a year.
I am a new Eos owner, purchasing a 2009 Thunder Blue edition last month. My wife and I truly love this car, probably more than any of the other 5 convertibles we have owned in the past 15 years.
Are there any organized events surrounding the Eos in the southeast? We would love to meet fellow Eos drivers someday and share your experiences.
Thanks
Steve

Working on planning one in Virginia, in the Williamsburg area for 4/25/09. Stay tuned. Might be too far for you, though.

Who knows, we have traveled further for less reasons before so maybe.

How do you like your Clearshield? Since ours is Thunder Blue also, we have been thinking about it. I have seen these types of coverings before where you could see where it ends very clearly, which kind of turns me off.
Thanks
Steve

I've been very happy with my clearshield. I can see the line across it and am fastidious about getting wax removed from the edges. The line really doesn't bother me as much as 1000 small stone chips would. I can try to take a photo and see if it shows the demarcation. Come to the meet (see the link "Virginia Eos Meet - April 25, 2009) and see what my clearshield looks like in person :)

Darren
02-19-2009, 10:56 AM
...Just realized, I already have a photo up. ( Eos Photos - Nice reflection )
You can't see the line at all in that photo. You really have to be right on it. I actually had Clearshield applied to the bra area, headlights, fogs, and front of the mirror housings. My wife's Saab 9-5 was dark blue like this and after 10 years of ownership the stone chip marks in the front end drove me mad.

Hi Steve,

Been a long time since I have checked into the Atlanta site, but welcome! I can tell you that the southeast is pretty lousy at having meets or waving to fellow EOS drivers. I have passed a couple in my town (Gwinnett county) and when I wave I get the "how dare you have my car" stare.

It's like they take it personal - and I've had my EOS since early 07!

ok, done venting... sorry.

welcome nonetheless.

Long distance wave from the UK! Still haven't got my Eos, but today walking along our country lane I saw an Eos pull in visiting at the house next door. I rushed up to these complete strangers as they got out of their car, and, panting something like 'Eos ...beautiful ...' , I thought they were going to ignore me as a mad woman, but they started enthusing about the car and telling me how wonderful it is etc. I shall definitely wave at every one I see - when I eventually take delivery of mine!
