: Bicylist Needs a Hitch

I told my dealer I wouldn't buy a car if it couldn't take a hitch for my bicycles. Supposedly Draw-tite comes out with hitches after new cars have been on the market for a while, but VW is showing a hitch that goes through the bumper for $625. Has anyone installed an aftermarket one that's cheaper?

I still haven't picked up my white 2.0 with grey interior and worry about hitch availability.

Grandma seems to be looking for reasons not to buy the car... just relax and enjoy.

I'm in contact with Curt Manufacturing and they are supposed to start production on the hitch and it should be available in the next week or two. U-Haul's cost is $169.95, don't know how much Curt Manufacturing is going to be. U-Haul is not my favorite company.

Eyers Hitch in Santa Clara, CA quoted my $85 to install it. It requires about 1 hours worth of work and a slight triming of the heat shield.

I guess I can't attach the PDF file.

I guess you're not a bicyclist. I still haven't found a hitch, and traveling to bicycling trails 1500 miles away can be problematic unless one has a hitch.

I love the car, but even the dealership admits they're "cramping my style."

Thanks! Let me know how the Curt hitch works. I saw one hitch attached under the muffler. I certainly do not want to go that route! Someone told me her car couldn't take a standard hitch, and a company dropped the muffler, attached the hitch, and then reinstalled the muffler. That design makes more sense to me, but I don't know it if would work on an Eos.
