: VW Eos Plant Tour, Portugal
JonnyT 03-25-2007, 10:23 PM Thought I would share this video clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVm7_AqshaQ)of a tour of the Autoeurpoa VW factory in Portugal where the Eos is manufactured that I found on YouTube.
I contacted the factory to arrange a visit for when I visited Portugal last week, however they were unable to accommodate my visit due to the reconfiguration of the factory for a new model. Will try again later in the year!
Looks a fascinating production facility!
sia555 03-31-2007, 06:44 PM Thanks for posting the link there. Had seen other links to it before but they wanted you to pay first. :)
Interesting how it's all put together.
smoggypaul 03-31-2007, 11:16 PM Great link - mine is due at the dealers on 15th April so it is much on my mind now, and I've just enjoyed imagining that is MY car being made - its a much more manual process that I imagined, with an AWFUL lot of machine help of course!
Paul:cool:

On the subject of links a friend sent me this unusual eos TV advert from South Africa.

Gavster 06-29-2007, 08:22 AM Something that I find amazing is that the whole roof mechanism weighs only 48lbs that's 3 stones and 6 lbs or just under 22 kilos.
jamcar 06-29-2007, 09:57 AM Thanks for the Eos monkey clip David, but when i get mine i will not be going to woburn safari park in it thats for sure. See you are expecting delivery in late June, have you heard anything from VW or better still has your new beauty arrived? hope all goes well.

Useless dealers, useless VW, (Grr!). Car stil sitting in Grimsby docks getting covered in fish heads! Dealer has promised to collect it so should have it 4th July.
Cheers, David
The pics are great ... but you can't convince me that my EOS was made in a car factory. ;-p
monkeymojo 07-06-2007, 02:37 AM cool picture tour.. top notch quality!
jamcar 07-06-2007, 06:46 AM David have you got your eos, im hoping the reason you have not given us an update is because you are having lots and lots of fun driving your new car!!
silvershadow 06-20-2009, 04:46 AM I think the time is right to refresh this thread as many of our more recent members may not be aware of its existence - this is where and how our cars were made. I have updated the links as appropriate:
VW Eos Factory Tour report from VWVortex website:
http://www.vwvortex.com/artman/publish/vortex_news/article_1814.shtml (http://www.vwvortex.com/artman/publish/vortex_news/article_1814.shtml)
Video of Eos Factory Tour - audio is not good due to factory noise and video quality leaves a lot to be desired but still very interesting:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVm7_AqshaQ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVm7_AqshaQ)
VW have also set-up a "factory of the future" in Dresden to manufacture the Phaeton - no wonder VW are increasing market share whilst the traditional big manufacturers fall beside the wayside:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nd5WGLWNllA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nd5WGLWNllA)
due to the reconfiguration of the factory for a new model.
Any idea what new model? EOS replacement? Is EOS moving elsewhere?
Fred

Fred, this is an old post and I think they were referring to the Sirocco - I do not think there ever was any intention to stop/transfer Eos production.
