Hi everyone,
Anybody got any idea where I can get some engine oil on a saturday afternoon (all the VW parts places are closed).
Have tried Halfords but no luck. Ideally looking for Castrol SLX Longlife II think the spec is either VW 503 00 or VW 504 00.
Cheers,
Si

Ok replying to my own question - just checked the Castrol website and apparently I need Castrol Edge 5W-30 which replaces the SLX II stuff and is VW 504 00.
Looks like i'm back off to Halfords - doh!!
Cheers

Got some and topped up - used about 0.5 litre in 3200 miles! 4 litres of oil came to £43 pounds!!
Looks like I might have a thirsty eos.

Your EOs diesel?
I think mines going to have to be checked....Done 4,500 miles now. Dont like the thought of this oil burning lark

Hi Laura,
Nope mine's the petrol 2.0TFSI. Have read somewhere before that sometimes this engine can be thirsty. Looks like i'll be topping up once a month seeing as I'm clocking up at least 2500 miles a month !!
Not heard anything about the diesel engines but always worth checking the level.

Wow - I've covered 68k miles in the Audi version of the 2.0TFSI and haven't had any issues like this at all- I wonder if you've just got a'thirsty' engine? It can happen, but that looks like a lot of oil to me, and I'll be clocking up the same number of monthly miles so I have a vested interest!

Hi Paul,
Yeah I reckon it's a thirsty one not complaining though as it's great to drive around in. At least I've got it on longlife service (currently showing first service due at 16400 miles) rather than fixed like in the Golf beforehand so that should cut some costs down :)
I do have a heavy right foot so maybe that's related :D
Its not too bad - there are some people who have been told (by Audi but it is the same engine) that 1L per 1000 miles is not uncommon!
At that rate there is no point putting long life oil in!

Agreed, what's the point of putting expensive oil in a car if the sodding thing is going to burn it all before the next service is due. At the rate of 1L/1k miles I don't know how they managed to get the engines through the emissions tests.
Looks like we will have to keep a much more regular check on oil levels.

Hi Chaps
just for info/comparrison, my 2.0 Tfsi is 6 months old and has done approx 4,000 miles and the oil level on the dipstick is at the 3/4 mark. I seem to recall checking it when it was a month old (not sure what the mileage was ) and it was at the max mark.
I think that I read somewhere that the difference between the Min and Max marks is 1L.
That being the case, then my eso is not too bad on oil.
1L per 1,000 miles seems excesive to me. I find it hard to believe that engines can vary by that much.
Paul.

My July 06 Eos told me that it needed some oil in Feb 07 after it had done about 10500 miles so I put a litre in. That's all it has needed so far. (a picture of an oil-can appeared on the instruments which the manual said meant low oil level. 1 litre was enough to bring it back up to max).
