so I have to start a new one to complain about the dealers again! :(

I've called all of the dealers in Kent (leaving out the Dartford dealership that had my car for months). The soonest I could get my car in for someone to fix the motor on the washer (and give me a courtesy car) would be 25th April but would mean driving for 40 minutes out of my way.... is this really reasonable?! I work during the week so I can only drop her in at the weekend which is why there is such a delay. But there is also no guarantee that I would get a courtesy car if I took her in on that date. None of the closer dealers to me would be able to have her in before 2 May and again with no promise of a courtesy car.

Customer services (who are now ignoring my calls) have said before that they will have the autoglym sorted out while she is in so I think I'm going to need a courtesy car - can someone who has had this done confirm how long it will take to do (also if anyone has any knowledge of the washer motors being fixed can you let me know how long this will take also?)

Thanks

Hello !!!

Have I missed something? I thought you'd just got the car back from having the carpets / leaks sorted out.

Are you still on for the Dubs in the Park ?

Yes I did just get it back but now the motor on the windscreen washer is busted - not anything I've done - I only just about know how to pop the bonnet! I'm so annoyed.... got it booked in eventually for this Saturday at my most local but one dealer. Took whingeing at customer services to get something arranged and I still won't get a courtesy car. But I'm happier that it's going to get done and I'm going to be chauffered around again.

No promises re Dubs anymore, as I'm not 100% sure I will have her back in time, but if I do have her back then I'm there with bells on :o

The Autoglym shouldn't take more than a hour or two, I had mine re-done 2 days after I collected the car because of dye transfer on my seats.

Could you not get them to come and collect the car? I do this on a regular basis because I'm too busy to drop it off they send a guy to collect it and drop it back when it's done. It is free of course.

p.s sorry to hear your having problems again!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Are all VW dealers in Kent total imbeciles?!?!?! I won't be getting my car back as apparently it is a power fault rather than just a simple repair job for the windscreen washers and parts need to be ordered.

HOW MUCH MORE SHOULD I TAKE BEFORE SEEING ABOUT A COMPLETE REFUND?

All this and STILL no courtesy car........I'm bloody fuming....

Darren

Why can't you drive your car while the parts are on order????

I'm pretty sure it's illegal if the washers aren't working? Or dangerous at the very least. I wouldn't be happy driving it around without them anyway....why can't they give me a courtesy car?!

(Actually since my last post they have agreed to lend me a vehicle that is for sale on their forecourt until they have my car fixed so at least that's something!) :)

Is it the wipers or the washers that is the problem? If the "washer" how would anyone know it is defective?

Is the dealer in Dartford that bad. Just bought my car (not from Dartford) but this dealer is the nearest one as I am a Bexleyheath boy. What do you suggest if I need a service.

Doolallygirl
04-25-2009, 06:02 PM
Hey I'm a Bexleyheath girl and my nearest one is Dartford too...they had my car for months for a leak into the boot and the word "crap" doesn't cover it! Hence why I ended up in Bromley...turns out they are just as bad. Thinking of just giving up on Beadles dealers entirely! p.s. where abouts in Bexleyheath are you?

Darren I knew the washer motor wasn't working as the whirring noise wasn't making a sound and water wasn't coming out - it wasn't a difficult diagnosis! :D

Doolallygirl
04-26-2009, 08:25 PM
In fact, people take a look at my pictures and see what Beadles in Dartford actually done to my car!!! Just learnt to upload them from Photobucket!! yay me!

Lucari
04-27-2009, 07:02 PM
The photos seem a tad on the small side. Are there larger image ?

Doolallygirl
04-27-2009, 11:13 PM
Hmm there are larger ones but they are over the size limit so I can't upload them... hopefully you can get the gist of them though...it wasn't pretty!

Anyway, that was the previous problem, not this one where they had to remove the carpet and basically ALL of the inside components.

Back to this problem, I took my car back from the dealers on Saturday (after they put up a fight though) and they decided when I called them today that actually the autoglym hadn't been done, nor had the valet.... it's all quite ridiculous. Means that now it has to go BACK IN! Luckily this time they are sending a guy out to collect my car for me this time and they promise to have it back within the day. We'll see! I won't hold my breath were the words of the customer services representative when I told him that!!! LAUGHABLE!

Ok well the dealers took my car back on Thursday and gave it a clean and autoglym...and returned it to me with a few scratches in the paintwork!!!!

Lo and behold another few phone calls later and I returned to the dealers today to show the brand manager what had happened to my beautiful car. He agreed, there were definitely scratches there, it was entirely their fault, and they were going to fix it for me. He said that he will wait until his paint guy is in this week and will arrange for the same man to come and pick up my car as did last week on Thursday.

I'm a little angry that this could have happened and gone unnoticed and actually left their workshop in that condition let alone be returned to the customer with nobody noticing but that's what happens I guess when businesses are understaffed and rushed.

Credit to them though, they are trying to make me happy with them so that I can return for future services etc etc and I really do hope they can make me happy with my car for the first time since the back end of last year.

It seems like this time they are really bothered about making me happy, a complete change to Dartford Beadles!

DLG,
You must be one of the unluckiest Eos owners in the whole world! It really looks as though you should sever all ties with your existing dealer, move house down to Devon & I will introduce you to my local dealer in Newton Abbott. I dropped in there last week for some touch up paint after scraping my wing mirror on the Dartmouth ferry. The service manager remembered me from my oil leak problem & came straight over to me, wanting to know if I had had any further problems. Offered coffee & bikkies while I waited for the paint. Had a long chat about the pros & cons of the old Beetle Cabrio (which i'm thinking of buying). Very helpful.
Come down to Devon, enjoy the clotted cream, sunny weather, sand & sea & above all, a very helpful dealer!

:o I'd love to but I couldn't commute to my job in London every day! :p

To be honest I might return to the current dealer I'm with (God forbid I have any more issues!) as at least they accept the scratches that appeared on my wing were their doing and they are bending over backwards now to make me happy which is the main thing that the first dealer didn't do.

Then again, I might just have to do the 1hour 20 minutes round trip to visit the third closest dealer to me next time!! :o

Finally I can say I'm happy with my car!!

:D

It's been 6 months of torture and dealing with VW customer services on an almost daily basis at times, going through two different dealers but finally I look at my car and I am happy!

There are no more leaks, there are no more scratches and I'm delighted with it.

Who would have thought they would see the day huh?! ;)

One thing holding me back from fully recommending Bromley Beadles is the fact that when they returned my car they left a Bounty wrapper in the door well and a lump of melted chocolate on the leather... strange really as Dartford Beadles left a clump of chocolate biscuit (much like a Penguin bar) in my boot when the returned it....must be something about my car that makes the mechanics munch chocolate in it/over it!! :D

More leaks....another trip to the dealers for I think the third leak in a year and a half. I got into her yesterday (first time I'd seen her in a week) and there was literally a PUDDLE of water in the passenger door well. Booked in for 28 November with the dealers who last had her in and managed to actually keep me happy (for a change!). This is their last opportunity. If I don't have a dry winter after this I am going to have to sell up and I'm not sure I will get another :(

I think DLG you have been pretty calm over the whole issue since this began, which I admire you for, perhaps a little too nice about it all though? I think it's about time you told the garage 'this is your last chance, enough is enough now' no matter how much you love the car.

Believe me, I wasn't very nice about it when I was calling VW customer services on a daily basis! ;)

It's caused so many problems since I've had her, I've been arguing with my man about it and now he's washed his hands of it, all he can say is I told you so (he didn't want me to get a convertible because of my previous experience of leaks).

Strangely enough, for the right price I think I'd still buy a white/red one if it came up though

Hi,

Sorry to hear about that, but it should be an easy fix. It is likely that the drain pipe has come off behind the a pillar... There is a thread on here about it with some photos. Lanmarc had the correct solution!

Then why didn't they do this before to save me having to go back time and time again?!

They need to impress me once again with their magic, like I've said, if I don't have a dry winter after this I'm going to sack it off and get a new car...

Hi DLG,
I can only repeat my comment from May this year - come to South Devon for a decent dealer!
Our dealer has 2 branches, 1 in Plymouth & the other in Newton Abbott. They have 2 resident Eos Techies based in Plymouth. My Eos developed an annoying creak in the driver's door. I phoned the Newton Abbott branch (my nearest) & the service manager suggested bringing the car over whilst the Plymouth Eos Techie was visiting. This I did & as soon as I arrived the Techie came out to introduce himself. He suggested that I drive round the block whilst he sat in the back & listened for the creaks. After a couple of minutes (& a few creaks) he said "I think I know what that is. It'll take about 2 hours to fix." Something to do with the window lifting equipment, I think. Went back in 2 hours & haven't had a creak since.
I realise that this addition to the thread may appear to be smug & self satisfying, DLG, but it is not meant to be so. There are good dealers out there & I have been very lucky in having one in my area. You have been so unlucky with your car & I really sympathise with you. I just hope you have some good luck soon & regain confidence in the Eos ethos.
Good luck for the future.

Oh hon sorry to hear your still having problems.

My advice is your baby is a lemon go back to the dealer and ask them to take it back and give you one that works.

I would also suggest that when you call vw customer services now you ask to speak to a manager and then just stick to dealing with them rather than the regular call centre staff?

Doolallygirl
11-25-2009, 12:06 PM
I've been on to VW Customer Services, going through the same motions as before and have told them this is their last opportunity blah blah blah....they know the story by now! They even had the cheek to suggest that I hadn't lubricated my seals hence the leak...I told them I done it just about 3 months ago....oh well, I live in hope that when it comes down to it they will just admit I was sold a lemon

Doolallygirl
12-01-2009, 03:15 PM
The dealer actually asked me what the problem was...doh! I said possibly a blocked drain tube or just really lame seals!

Fingers crossed they don't expect me to actually FIX it myself! That's their job - and with it being under warranty I should bloody think so too!

Just had a call from the dealer - guess what?!? My car isn't ready after a week like promised! :D

They reckon they fixed the original leak it went in with but wouldn't say how - they then done a water test, found a different leak and decided to order parts today which won't arrive until Monday. Then they will need to water test AGAIN and I won't get my car until Wednesday at the earliest! In the meantime I'm stuck with the 1l Polo they gave me as a "courtesy" car...that's not a courtesy, that's a joke! lol

Then they want to get their "courtesy" car back on Wednesday - well lucky for me I work in London, unlucky for them, my "courtesy" car is in Kent...ho hum they may have to wait another week for their car back me thinks...or bend over backwards for me! :p

Or maybe they should finally admit they sold me a duff car and replace it with a brand spanking new white or red version without faulty seals?! That MAY make me happy finally!

They haven't even got back to me yet - despite saying they would be in touch on Monday. Not impressed yet again with lack of customer service at these dealers

Should I be worried that the dealer is now saying that my boot doesn't open from the outside?! I told HIM the fix for this (pressing the open all doors button on the inside driver door). He says his daughters Eos doesn't have this issue....I say something smells dodgy! lol

What a complete joke that the Eos "expert" doesn't know anything about the Eos and it's weird and wonderful ways - I shall suggest he take a visit to this site!

I think you would get more benefit from following SiJ2000's advice and taking your car to a different dealer despite the additional inconvenience involved. I would be looking for a VW dealer who has sold a large number of Eosi and has a large service division as I would expect their mechanics to be more familiar with the car due to working on them regularly rather than infrequently as would be the case with a smaller dealer.

I guess you have good times and bad times with different dealers, but I have had stuff done to my car which has been fine. I use CityGate in Colindale (London NW9)... The service station is about 15 mins walk from Colindale Tube which is on the Edgware branch of the Northern Line...

Problem with that being that I can't take my car on the tube! And you know what I'm like with directions!!

This is the last chance for ANY dealer to get it right, after this I am entitled to a refund. I know in my heart that they won't get it to a stage where I'm happy and I've already started looking at other cars :(

Who's going to buy Doolallygirl a Satnav for Christmas then?!

Actually my boyfriend bought me one yesterday as an early Christmas present! After the fiasco that was me trying to get to the meet in the summer and just ending up driving around for three hours without a clue it was decided that was what I wanted for Christmas! I turned it on last night and discovered where I lived! ;) That's a good starting place anyway!!

Agreed... You should tell the dealer about lanmarc's post... He is probably on the nose with that one. It is likely to be a blocked front drain tube, or it could have come off completely.

Merry xmas by the way! x

Hello Doolallygirl,

I'm from Portugal and I'm pretty close to the "EOS reality" because I work at the VW Plant that builds the EOS and Sciroccos...

The problems you are facing are not normal...period! Your dealer should have the knowledges to solve that "leaking issue" asap!!! If they can't, I fully agree with the idea (already given by other user) to change dealer!
I can give you my experience...I have also a (wonderfull) EOS tdi top, since 2007, and I haven't face yet a single leak until now! And believe me...here in PT, during winter period, it rains a lot (like it is raining know...)
The VW EOS is a wonderfull car and we get frustratted when we see situations like yours!

I only can wish you all the luck in order to solve your issues asap!!!

Have a fantastic 2010!!!
