hi all did any of you get offered the auto glym package when buying the car, we were offered it for £250 a nice canvas bag full of all the auto glym polish and stuff thought it was a good buy as i know that stuff is expensive, BOY was i conned saw it in the argos book today same bag of stuff just different colour bag and it was only £40 i am really annoyed
Sorry to hear you have been conned into buying such high priced goods.:(
I take it its too late to return it and get your money back?
Seems like the salespeople at your VW agency get more commision from selling bags of polish than they do from selling cars. At the prices they are charging its probably a nice little earner.

I'd be screaming like a "stuffed pig" first to the dealer, and if that didn't work to VW corporate. Selling something for 6 times what it is available for on the open market is shady business practice at best and usurious. Not what one should expect from a major international company!

I had the auto-glym treatment.
The price of £250 includes the treatment of the vehicle by the dealer prior to you taking delivery. This includes the treatment of the external and internal surfaces with the relevant products. This provides additional protection to the vehicle, especially if you have the cornsilk leather upholstery. You just wipe it with a moist cloth to clean it.
The bag of goodies is so you keep using the auto-glym products as part of the aftercare.

Well, that makes it sound quite a bit diferent! I can understand if there is application, both exterior and interior, included. That was not stated in the first comment!
Hi
I had the Auto Glym treatment on my current car (VW Bora) when I bought it from the dealer. At the time I thought it was sensible as the car has a cream leather interior and I didn't want it to get filthy.
However, as I await my Eos I did some research and managed to buy the Autoglym Lifeshine treatment on Ebay for about £10-£15 and will apply it myself - I already have the Autoglym bag from last time so don't need that. Even if I paid out £35 for the Autoglym bag it would still be a lot cheaper than the £250 VW charge.
I have to agree that it would seem to be a bit of a money spinner for the dealer!
Cheers
Lee
I agree, if it includes the dealer actually doing some work for you rather than just supplying some materials. Still it does seem a bit over the top.
Has anyone had the Supaguard treatment, is this the same as the rest of this thread or is it different?

I have bought supaguard off of ebay. If you pull vw about their charges they will tell you it is labour applying it. I took half a day to apply supaguard to the whole of the vechile. Yes it is excellent stuff. But not worth £300. Im happy only paid £18 off ebay.

I got the treatment done, and I'm more than happy with it. at least part of the cost you should get back when you sell the car on (ie cars with it sell for more). Don't have anywhere safe and suitable to apply the stuff myself too!
The packs were selling on ebay for upwards of 80 quid at christmas though!
Thanks for the information but I still have a couple of queries about this Supaguard treatment, from a practical perspective in the real world.
Does it make the car easier to clean? or does it make the dirt bounce off better than a standard wax polish?
Just interested

I paid for the Supaguard treatment and goodie pack, somewhat against my basic instincts. However, motor trade contacts in Germany suggest that it does work to a certain extent for many months and my own experience is that the windscreen does to clear more easily than on untreated vehicles, if nothing else.
I do not seem to have entered the world with the car-washing gene which surbuban males are presumed to inherit, so resent every minute spent polishing. In spite of that I forced myself to clean and polish my Eos this morning and I must say that the Silver Bullet looks absolutely superb now. Beats gardening.
