Hi
Just to let you know how good the Bluetooth s/w harness kit from the US, Plus the Parrot CK3000 unit.
It works a treat, just press the small phone on the left of the s/w and say the name you want to contact and it doe's the business.
The hardest bit of the instalment which I carried out my self was running the mic wire round inside the windscreen trim, the rest was a easy.
With this US s/w harness unit you don't require to splice or tap into any wires as it fits between the head unit in my case the six in dash changer unit, and the harness can be removed without a trace for your next Eos.

Do you have to hook up 12V power - or is it really that easy?

:) Hi
Yes it's that easy, no need for any extra supplies or splicing into any of the cars wires if you have the std radio or the in dash six CD changer fitted as I have with this new Steering wheel harness.
Just press the phone button on the steering wheel which will mute the radio and say the name you want to phone, the unit doe's the rest, to hang up press and hold the phone button for two seconds and your radio comes back on, it's the same if someone phones you the radio mutes and the system rings.
I found the hardest bit of the job was running the microphone wire round inside the windscreen trim, but If I can do it any one can.

:) Hi
Currently you can only purchase the steering wheel harness kit from the USA
the part number for our Eos is SW101C this is the new steering wheel control box and QUVWS-2 for the new VW cd/radio harness kit, this has the big square male and female adaptors to connect between the radio and the cars harness.
The total cost including delivery from the US is $226.90 Approx £114.00 and you will have to purchase the Parrot 3000 Evu kit in the UK Price £65.00.
Total Approx £179.00 unless you are unlucky like me and have it opened at the UK customs, this will set you back another £24.00.
Hope this helps but if you require any more information just ask.
Regards
Bill

This kit is also readily available in the UK and we have versions for the Parrot CK3000 & CK3100 kits.
Can supply only (for DIY) or supply and fit - 3 year warranty on our installation work, 1 year on parts.

Do any wires need to be connected with the justcarkits version? The nice thing about the QCVWS-2 is that it is plug and play at the back of the radio including my Dynaudio system...
See the video here for an install in the GTI (the EOS is much easier): www.quickconnectproducts.com/vwvideo.wmv

Our kit is also plug and play and will work with any of the fitted audio systems: Dynaudio / SatNav MFD2 / RCD300 / RCD500.
There are 2 versions dependent on the Parrot kit used:
One for the Parrot CK3000 Evolution and MK6000, the other for the CK3100. There will shortly be an interface for the MK6100.
Versions for the MK6100 & MK6000 use different adaptor connector to allow Bluetooth MP3 streaming (via phone / iPod with Bluetooth adaptor). On these models the volume level needs to be adjusted on the Parrot control. If you don't need the streamed Bluetooth MP3 feature you can use the other harness which allows the stereo vol controls to adjust the volume.
The best place for the mic to be located is by the interior light cluster and this is what takes a fair amount of time as the top trim has to be undone to allow the A-Pillar trim to be removed. This is necessary to allow the mic cable to be cable tied in place to prevent the dreaded rattles.

I installed the same thing on my Eos and there is no 12V switched circuit in the VW Factory Harness, only 12V always on power sources. They left the 12 Volt switched wire out as all the current VW Factory Radios and Sat-Navs do not use it to tell the key position. They use the CAN-BUS to tell the status of the ignition key position. The Parrot has a 12V switched wire with separate fuse so I had to run that wire down and splice into the 12V outlet hot wire below the radio.
The pro of tying the 12V switched wire to the 12V always on is that your bluetooth will work even with the key off and removed. The con is that you will be drawing more current from the battery as the Parrot will always be on.

Would never recommend installing any handsfree car kit that does not go on/off with the ignition. The handsfree kit normally needs the switch on/off to initiate the Bluetooth connection.
After all, it is only 1 extra wire to connect at time of installation.
