Hi
I've tried searching and reading on the forum, yet could not come to a solid conclusion...
My baby is now 35'000 kms (~22 000 miles) and the front tires are now slick and the rear ones just about to be. They are the original Dunlop SP 235/45/17/W (and index is 9x (can't recall) what x is in between 1 and 7).
I would like to buy new tires that are very good on dry roads and especialy grippy on wet and misty roads. Idealy would like to buy one set of tires which I can use through the winter until next summer (2011), when I'll likley change cars (sigh...). I've heard about Pirelli all-seasons... Yet was told they wear out very rapidly... I need tires to perform well for about 18 months.

So, what tires would you recommend (am in France/Europe) for:
1/ Summer use?
2/ Winter use?
3/ All-season use?

Thanks!

Fred

For all-season tires, I've been partial to the Yokohama AVID for years. We've run them on my wife's last two cars, and will put them on the Eos as soon as the disappointing factory tires wear out. The AVID is long wearing, and great handling on wet and dry roads. Can't vouch for its performance in snow, as we used to live in Florida.

The newest AVID version is the "ENVigor". Whether they're available in France, I don't know.

Most of the big U.S. online tire retailers (such as Tire Rack, Discount Tires, etc.) have good search functions so you can compare tire features and read reviews. Everyone has their favorite brand, but in a given price range and style there probably isn't a whole lot of difference between the major tire companies' offerings.

We rarely talk about different tyres for different seasons here in UK and don't know anyone who switches. Think most tyres sold here are generally suitable for all seasons because here all the seasons are the same anyway...! In fact we often get all 4 in the same day.

What I mean is being a Brit I'm not qualified to offer you any advice!

Thanks for the good morning laugh!
Well, looks like following a very snowy winter this year, our summer has started same day as spring this time! 27° 10 days in a row...
Will check the yokohama's in local reviews.
thanks
