Am thinking of an EOS TDI DSG but have been put off by reports that over 60,000 miles problems can be expected that require a complete replacement box costing £3-5,000. What are you experiences. Many thanks

As a fan of manual transmissions, I'd say don't get the DSG! Seriously, though, there's a bunch of helpful info on DSG issues in one of VWVortex's forums:

The U.S. had a recall for a faulty temperature sensor (which made the DSG think it was overheating), and there's also been a warranty extension for bum mechatronics units (rough shifting) in certain MYs. I'm not sure what actions VW has taken to rectify DSG problems in other countries. You can't get an Eos with TDI here, but you can get a diesel Jetta with DSG.
