: Hi from Australia - mine's coming in March?
glbulldogs 01-10-2007, 09:54 AM Hi All,
Have finally found some time to register. Let's start from the beginning on how it all came about:
* Read an article in metro newspaper in May 06
* Went to the Motorshow in Oct and spent some time at the Eos display
* Bored one Saturday in Dec and enquired about a Golf GTi and then started to talk about wanting more info on an EOS
* Test drove a GTi and came back with a grin
* Salesperson rang on Wednesday - 5 minutes later I've provided my credit card details! Easiest sale ever!
Really looking to March/April - it's due to launch in March but who knows, as Australia is so far away.....
Decided on a Deep Black metallic with black leather 2.0T FSI (Turbo) DSG. The only bad point is the fact that certain things that I would like (e.g. 18" alloy cannot be ordered without the additional cost of sports suspension) have to be ordered as a combined package. Alarm is a $590 option when it is standard in other markets - we get other things standard that are options in other countries, so I say it works both ways.
Only a few more months to go......
Hi, learnt about this forum 5 minutes ago, already have someone to ask if i can see their car when it arrives. I am presuming you are in Sydney from your post: I live in Walcha near Armidale in Northern NSW and am on an Eos waiting list with Bill Buckle and the dealer in Port Macquarie.
Currently driving a Mazda rx8, wife an Alfa 147.
Good to get onto this club in its infancy>

Andrew 01-18-2007, 08:22 AM Welcome to the site, glad to see some Aussies make it here. glbulldogs, stick around and you'll know a ton before you pick up your new car!
kkseos 01-23-2007, 05:31 AM Hey glbuldogs... are you getting an EOS this year in australia? We just got new Jetta 2L Turbo and love it. Hope to get an EOS at end of lease in 2009..Thanks..KK
glbulldogs 01-23-2007, 09:28 AM Hi all,
Yep, I live in Sydney and getting it in 2007. Spoke to the dealer today and they still quote March, so I guess VW HQ have still not told them if it is early or late March. It will be interesting to see if they end up having a long waiting list like the GTI did. I think I heard I was one of 7 from the dealer that had ordered up to Dec.
Look forward to hearing the good and the bad (hopefully, not much) from all you lucky current owners around the world.

Catman 02-09-2007, 11:13 AM March almost here!!!! and Ive been assured that left Portugal 3-4 weeks ago what have you heard re release date???. Catman a fellow Aussie

Catman 02-09-2007, 11:19 AM Hi, Ordered mine 8 mths ago and told I was the first??? Long bloody wait though so hope its worth it. Cheers Catman Adelaide
Pepino 02-09-2007, 12:43 PM geez, I feel bad for you all waiting for your cars since you are so far from portugal. The VW dealers here in the US have up to 7 or 8 just sitting on the lots waiting for buyers... If I could I'd send you one of those overnight FedEx! Hope you enjoy your Eos when it arrives!

Isn't there some problem with lhd cars in Oz?!
Looks like you'll be saving your money!

If only and they are much cheaper!!!! We pay nearly AUD60,000 which is around USD48,000 for the 2 litre DSG turbo model.
I've spoken with my dealer and unfortunately mine now is coming in June/July. Not enough cars in the first shipment of 200, 30 of which are press cars. If you divide the remaining 170 amongst 55 odd dealers (assuming the regional dealers only get 1 or 2), that means most dealers will get no more than 5 or 6 in the March shipment. June/July shipment's production is around mid March. Dealers are quoting June/July if one puts in an order now....this is sure to increase substantially (probably like the 12 months like the GTI), once people read or see the cars on the road in a few months time.
Oh well, another 5 months to wait.....
Pepino 02-10-2007, 12:57 PM I'm sorry to hear you have to wait so long... Maybe we can smuggle one for you at the USD price! That makes me angry. You know I'm Italian... lets see what the family can do eh? ;)
Catman 02-14-2007, 12:05 PM Hi Just wondering re my latest post if you know actual date in March for release. Cheers Catman;)

glbulldogs 02-19-2007, 09:53 AM Sorry Catman, no specifics. A mate reckons he saw one being driven on the F3 (highway between Newcastle and Sydney) about 3 weeks ago..... I still have doubts, even as he rang and described the car that was in front of him. Maybe a factory car having a last minute run????
guess yo already know...they're in some dealers showrooms.
lanmarc 03-03-2007, 02:20 PM Today was the first chance I had to view and test drive an EOS.
There were only officially released 2 days ago (in Australia)!
Ordered a red manual TDI after driving the FSI DSG around Adelaide for about 30 minutes.
No red manual TDI's at all in Australia so will have to wait 6 months for delivery! :(
Lynne 03-03-2007, 02:26 PM It'll be well worth the wait though!
Andrew 03-03-2007, 06:56 PM lanmarc,
Welcome to the club. Sorry to hear the wait is so long down under.
glbulldogs 03-04-2007, 12:43 AM I have just test drove DSG T-FSI model and it was nice. Mine is coming first week of April. The showroom was busy with a number of people looking at the Eos. I get the feeling if people are prepared to visit/ring a number of dealers and be flexible with their options, you may get one in April. There is a shipment ariving on March 23. I've heard about an August shipment as well. Really looking forward to getting it hopefully before Easter.
lanmarc 03-04-2007, 05:40 AM Thank you for the warm welcome.
Unfortunately there is only 1 VW dealer in South Australia!
And, if you want a TDI and a manual one at that, you just have to wait.
Another issue, I only ordered the EOS yesterday and now I am wondering whether Paprika Red was the right colour choice! I am thinking that Icelandic Grey may have been a better option (my 2yo golf is United Grey).
Has anyone seen an Icelandic Grey EOS and how does it compare to the United Grey coloured Golf?
glbulldogs 03-24-2007, 09:42 AM Has anyone in Aust got their's? Apart from dealer cars, I have not seen 1 on the road.....hopefully ours should be here within 2 weeks.
Bille6 03-25-2007, 12:24 PM Hi! Mine is at Barloworld Sydney and will pick it up when we come back from holidays the end of April. They had ordered 100 cars and had 16 delivered when they were released in early March. We were lucky to get a combination we wanted otherwise we would have to wait till November.
lanmarc 03-25-2007, 12:25 PM Has anyone in Aust got their's? Apart from dealer cars, I have not seen 1 on the road.....hopefully ours should be here within 2 weeks.
G'day glbulldogs.
I have seen only 1 (black) in Adelaide about 2 weeks ago. The local dealer had access to a few when we went for a test drive, but they were all petrol DSGs in leather. Ordered a red manual TDI with cloth seats (later changed to Icelandic Grey) and was told I might get it in September.
coggos 03-25-2007, 03:42 PM I picked up my Eos on thurs 15th march and have been having a ball. Purchased through Denlo parramatta not pre ordered but I was on the ball as soon as they arrived. Black with titanium leather, electric seats Turbo Diesel I think i have the first on the Central coast (an hour north of Sydney). The Dealer told me the wait list is now 12 months.
It looks stunning and the surroundings set it off beautifully.
I'm sure you will love the car.
glbulldogs 03-27-2007, 01:11 AM Thanks guys. Good to hear some (lucky) are enjoying theirs. We have been told it is now not arriving on dock until April 8 :( I think we will now be lucky to get it by April 21.....
Coggos, that looks good....we were going to get that in the petrol version but had to change it to silver, otherwise we would have waited a long time. I hate having to countdown yet again.....
Bille6, that's interesting news regarding Barloworld considering I was led to believe I was one of the first 10 to order from them in Nov 2006.......
sydeos 03-27-2007, 11:31 AM I believe that Barloworld are talking about the cars they have production slots for this year. Mine was ordered on 22/12/06 and was only built 23/03/07. If you want to order a particular car to your spec then you are looking at November at the earliest unless you want to take a car that is already spec-ed for production and not yet sold. However my experience with Barloworld so far has been a less then glowing experience and they have been a source of much contradictory information in the time I have been dealing with them.
The only good news was that the original production date moved forward from the 16/04/07. So now playing the waiting game for a shipping date.
glbulldogs 04-14-2007, 05:29 AM I'm back! Have just caught up with my salesperson and we are getting the Eos this week! Yippee! All this waiting since November's order is about to be over. We went down to the dealer this morning and walked around and saw a few Eos(es?) with the protective sheets still on. Found what I thought was mine and then an employee came up to us and said we were in a restricted area. Thinking this was mine, I asked but he had no idea and so we went into the showroom. It was then confirmed that our car was indeed in the yard somewhere and it will take a few days to be ready. This time next week, we hopefully will be cruising with the top down. Sydney's forecast for the next week is fine and 25 degrees! :)
P.S. Saw our first Eos (apart from dealer cars) on the street the other night and it was just 100 metres down from our place, in black. Luckily it was a visitor, so we will still be a rarity in the neighbourhood :p
sydeos 04-14-2007, 11:11 AM Congrats.
BTW which dealer are you getting the car from? Mine should arrive in Sydney on the 12th of May so hopefully I will have it by the end of the month.
glbulldogs 04-15-2007, 09:46 AM Barloworld at Mascot. Only a couple more sleeps.
coggos 04-15-2007, 10:04 AM :) Glad to hear your finally getting your car. I have just clocked 2000 km's and loved every minte. Can't fault the car so far. Everyone is intrigued by the engineering of the roof. It is a show stopper. Enjoy
glbulldogs 04-20-2007, 01:03 PM Well, what can I say? Have had it since Tuesday and now after coming home on Friday night, we have done almost 300kms! The car is driven a short distance to the city and then sits there. It only goes out at the moment after dark. Sydney has had magical nights with no cloud and 20-22 degree weather. We love it and am surprised how much we have been using the Sat Nav (even though I know how to get to most places, I do try and see if I'm smarter than the system-I'm glad I can say, I am!). Have not had any issues yet and very impressed by the power of the 2.0 turbo. Looking forward to a drive on the weekend.
sydeos 04-21-2007, 03:41 AM Congrats ........
Mine is now due to arrive on the 22nd of May so hopefully delivery on the week of the 4th of June with a little luck..... Fingers crossed :D
bretho 04-23-2007, 01:35 PM Hi All,
I took delivery of my baby mid March...she is now run in and I can now put the pedal to the metal.....the 2.0TFSI with DSG is an awesome combo.. the gear changes are amazing, you cannot feel them..regardless of speed.
The weather in Melbourne has been perfect for top down motoring..so the roof is down more often than not.
For those who are waiting to take delviery, rest assured you will not be dissapointed with this car..it is unbelieveable!!
Bretho
OZ spec- 2.0TFSI DSG, REd black leather
glbulldogs 04-25-2007, 01:02 AM Bretho,
That looks really nice - I do have a soft spot for the red but that was too much for my partner -she said it was too "bling-bling" for us! Hence no red leather either.
Sydney weather has been ordinary since Saturday-it has been bucketing down with rain, so no top down :( Atleast I can see there are no leaks. I do like pulling back the sunblind and watching the rain hit the sunroof while stuck in traffic....
After almost 500 kms in the past week, we are still having a ball and starting to understand some of the functions of this awesome car, "Tyson". Today is a public holiday for Australia so here's to more driving!
sydeos 04-27-2007, 09:48 AM Hey all an update on my Eos and thanks to Peter for the heads up :D
Build date - 22/03/07
Booked for Shipping - 12/04/07
Received for Shipping - 25/04/07
Shipping Date from Bremerhaven - 26/04/07
Arrival Date Sydney - 06/06/07
Delivery Date - 18/06/07 Fingers Crossed
Would love to know why it took 1 month from build to shipping?
If this is standard I guess we can say the time from build to delivery in Australia is about 3 months then :(
For those of you interested in tracking a car for Australian Delivery the website of the Shipping Line is here and all you need is a VIN number -

Suppose it will depend on when the next ship is due to load for Australia. My guess is they probably only load once or twice a month and maybe you missed one by a day or two. Some people might be lucky and find there's a ship the next day.. And of course these cars are made in Portugal so they had to get it to Bremerhaven, which must be the transhipment port, so maybe they had to wait a week or two for the Portugal/Bremerhaven ship..
Sure they have it all down to a fine art...
See it takes 6 weeks to get down to Oz too - maybe they have a few stops on the way!
sydeos 04-27-2007, 01:52 PM Sure they have it all down to a fine art...

Perhaps they don't have it down to a fine art at all!
I was originally told it was on a vessel departing Bremerhaven on the 31/03/07 and arriving in Sydney on the 12/05/07, then version 2 had another vessel departing on the 13/04/07 and arriving on the 22/05/07 then today we have version 3 with the departure and arrival above. This was the information available to the Dealer in the VW Australia system.
Since the original booking there have been 4 other vessels departing Bremerhaven for Australia. According to the schedule there are between 5 and 7 departures a month between the two ports depending on the month.
My vehicle was originally planned for departure 9 days after build and that didn't happen it departed 35 days after build. So would appear something is amiss somewhere in the VW System :(
dolcevita 04-27-2007, 04:34 PM Hey there sydeos, what waiting torture... I was one of the rare instances....I took mine home before the expected delivery (of course there were complications....) Mine was due early May but there was a mix-up BUT luckily there was another one available, arriving earlier with a few variations to my specs BUT same colour ext & int, except Nappa instead of std type leather, & woodgrain which although swish I would not have ordered, & sat nav. Missed out on xenon headlamps & ipod (re Sat NAv cant have both...)
Anyway.....IT IS SO WORTH THE WAIT!!! Start the countdown, you're in for a REAL TREAT!
Black Pearl, Red Nappa, Electric Seats, Sat Nav & Woodgrain....HOT HOT
Picked mine up from Bill Buckle, Brookvale Sydney, and drove it the 500 km home yesterday. I did not pre-order, just chose from their stock: petrol dsg, silver with red nappa elec seats. (Close enough to what I would have ordered; silver might be boring but it sure suits this car.)
Hopping out of a Mazda RX8 I was amazed just how willing this thing is to go, and just how supple is the standard suspension on our secondary country roads.
Havn't used the roof since leaving Sydney because its RAINING... and as I am a grazier in drought for most of the past five years this vehicle is surely a good-luck omen!
Shortly for an APR chip, then some 18" rims.
Having never seen one let alone driven one prior to delivery - relying on info gathered on this forum and Vortex - I am convinced I have made the right choice.
Thanks all for the help, Jax8
sydeos 04-28-2007, 11:40 AM Hey Jax
Congrats on the car and on breaking the drought :D
What is next an outdoor wedding or just a BBQ for the next lot of Rain ;)
glbulldogs 04-29-2007, 11:01 AM Good to see there are starting to be a few of us out there in Sydney/NSW Country. Just came back from the Central Coast and it was great to drive it at 110-120 kph (ok, occassionally it got away and did a bit more :D ) It is such a great car to cruise and effortless in accelerating and overtaking others. Up to 900 kms after just 12 days of driving. While I'm happy there has been recent rain, it means driving with only the sunroof tilting :p
Still have not seen another Eos being driven.....
