This is just such a perfect CaliCar that you guys must be loving the 'Eosolitude' that gives you such rarity!!!

Enjoy your EDA's - we shall do our best this side of the pond - the weather has been Eos-sunny the last few days, so top down throughout, but still with heater and seats full on!!!!

Enjoy

What up Tres. I'm up in Carlsbad and have had the car since February. I've only seen two others in my travels and one happens to be a neighbor who lives a block from me. Hopefully this May grey will burn off soon so we can get some more usage out of the top. See you on the road brother/sister!

Hi everyone,

I'm in located in OC (Orange County--we who live here don't call it "The OC") and have been lurking on this and another Eos forum. I've been hoping to see one of you on my daily commute, since I'm thinking about getting an Eos, but I have yet to spot an Eos on the road. Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi!

Post it up in the CA section in the U.S. area. I think you'll get a good crowd after a few meets.

I'm in the good ol' San Joaquin Valley, too. Just got my Eos last week after doing a lot of internet research. I'm disappointed in the open sun roof - it vibrates and makes a lot of noise. Is this what you experience?

Just want to add, that I really love this convertible. I feel very young when I drive it.

Have you tries using the windscreen? It pops up just in front of the sunroof, you have to push it in for it to pop out.
It takes alot of the turbulance and vibration away I have found.

Having the little windshield up is perfect. Now I can enjoy having my sunroof open when I don't have the top down. Love it!

I'm deff down for a meet up, what part of San Diego do you live in?
I live just north of Balboa Park, and I think the moderator lived in Carlsbad if I recall.
I've only seen 3 EOS down this way since I got the car in April.

Thricey,

Good to see more California drivers around. I live in San Diego, but visit LA area frequently to see family.

I'll wave at your white beauty if I see it!

I just moved to San Diego (Cortez Hill, just SW of Balboa Park) and am the proud owner of a new EOS with Komfort trim in Thunder Blue.

I'll definitely wave a friendly hello to any other Eos drivers I see. Many years ago I drove a Jeep Wrangler, and there is a tradition among Wrangler owners to wave to each other when you pass. Always enjoyed it, and happy to pick it up, to wave to other people who share similar good taste! :p

That is close! I'm sure I'll be seeing your Silver Eos driving around before too long!

My wife and I just moved to the area, so we're still learning where things are, and where we can take the Eos out for some nice weekend drives. Frankly, everything is so beautiful at this point that just going for random drives is pretty nice at this point!

Not an owner quite yet. ..

Am Going to local dealer tomorrow to hopefully find that they have one to test drive. Unless there is something awful that I discover, it's most likely that I'll place an order for lease. Eismeer (sp?) Blue/CornSilk VR6 is the plan so far. Red is a close second.

Howdy. Hope you can find what you are looking for. If you want a VR6 it will have to be an 08. Don't dismiss the 4 though. It is a pretty good engine and runs well. And if you are of a mind to and got the money you can chip the 4 and get almost the performance of a VR6. The VR6 only comes with DSG.

GaryS
06-28-2008, 05:00 AM
We are replacing my wife's '93 Mazda MX-3, and while I do have fun running the little 88HP (insert rolling eyes here) car through the gears, It gets tiresome on the 405 driving home from El Segundo in stop-go traffic. So the DSG isn't a big negative for me.

I'm sure the 6 speed is a blast, though.

In the end, if Long Beach VW has one on the lot that is pretty much loaded and of acceptable color to the wife, we'll probably grab it regardless of drivetrain. We just aren't patient about waiting for things like new cars to be delivered!

I'll post back when we end up with something.

Hello all-
Just found and joined the forum. I bought my Silver 2008 6 speed manual on Friday and took it to Napa Saturday... this car is inspiring. I had never seen one before buying, but have since seen 2 (both white, so maybe the same car). I made out with the best deal since the car was registered by VW of America as a photo shoot car. Since it was registered, they had to sell it as used, but it only had 500 miles on it! I've never been happier with, or more excited about a little car.

GaryS

Welcome aboard, and grats on the deal! Forum is kind of quiet lately (says he who hasn't checked in for months).

6 months of ownership, and still loving it. HAve only seen about 4 total on the road since buying. 2 in Long Beach in my first week, 1 way up in the Pennsylvania mountains, and one down around Dana Point on PCH awhile back who gave me a wave.

Good morning, all! I have a question regarding an extended
warranty.

I bought my Eos back in September of 2007. Up through
September of '08, I had no problems. In October '08, my
Eos had some gear problems (I posted here about), so they
changed out the Mechatronics Unit. Everything was fine
until last month. I started hearing a couple of noises. I
took it back to the dealer, and it was recommended by
VW of A that the transmission be replaced - ugh!! So now
the transmission has been replaced. I'm just scared of
what other problems may arise. I didn't purchase an
extended warranty when I bought it. Is there a warranty
I can purchase now at this point? I really love the car,
and I'm *hoping* that was the last of my problems, but
I wanna be prepared just in case, and I don't wanna be
having to dip into my wallet.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Yes you can buy extended warranty from a VW dealer...I bought one when I got my EOS(2.0T, 2007) last month.

I am up near Los Angeles. I actually drove to San Diego for a Padres game yesterday, and headed back up. Very fun drive down there, until I got to parking, and my oil pressure light went off. Still not entirely sure what is going on with that. But I love my little eos, minus all the service issues I have had.

On my 2nd Eos. Leased a 2008 komfort in 4.08 from Sunnyvale VW. Had to get it from Maryland to get a color I liked with a manual trans. Loved it--but turned it in 2 weeks ago for a 2011 komfort. There were only TWO Eos with manual transmissions in CA available!! I was told that in 2012, only automatics would be available. A car that is this much fun HAS to have manual trans. available, right???

I have loved both of mine.
