I finally obtained my Cruise Control today courtesy of HAZZY DAYZ (Gareth & Martin). Just to recap: I ordered dealer fit last August - car was delivered March 2010 but dealer couldn't seem to source the required parts. Apparently, there was a change in November last year and dealer fit is no longer an option.
HD were able to obtain the genuine VW controls (note: the two stalks come as one assembly). Martin had the steering wheel off and new parts fitted in 10 minutes and then all that was required was a quick software update (1 bit). Hey Presto, cruise control fitted and functions perfectly. The on screen symbols are already built into the MFD & speedometer.

I had a really good service from Hazzy Dayz and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them based on my experience. All I have to do now persuade the dealer to recompense me.
