: Is there a Site Flyer?
Gavster 05-19-2007, 06:21 PM Does anybody know if there is a site flyer for this excellent forum community?
Other forums that I have been a member of in the past (such as the TT forum and SEAT Enthusiasts) have 'recruited' new members by displaying the site flyer on their car or by placing one on the windscreen of other eligible cars.
If there isn't one I would be very happy to create one for general use.
That's of course if it's ok with the site owner ;)

Great idea .... count me in if we get approval. Maybe there is some way you create artwork centrally, provide ability to download, and any body who is interested prints up what they need?
Andrew 05-20-2007, 12:38 AM I was working on getting a sticker made today. I like this idea as well and will put something together.
Gavster 05-20-2007, 09:54 AM That's exactly it, we could have a central area with all the flyers etc in it for people to download and print at will.
Right, that's it then, we just need approval from the site owner.
Does anybody know who that is?

Perhaps Andew can arrange?
Agree with the others, it would be a great idea. Especially like the idea of a down load area to prepare your own copies.
Gavster 05-20-2007, 07:10 PM Right - I've come up with a first draft of the new flyer - will upload shortly - although there are a couple of changes that I want to make to it before sending it off to whoever it needs to go to for approval.

OK - Here it is finally - please take a look at the new site flyer but dont print / distribute it yet as....
1) The top logos are very low resolution and I want to obtain better ones
2) We don't yet have permission from the site owner to distribute it
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated though.
ddlweb 05-20-2007, 09:19 PM Nice work Gav - this is looking good!

Good Work Gavin,
Ownership penetration in Canada is so low, not sure how much use I would get from this, but certainly would ask VW dealer to keep them for new owners.
More importantly, think we could use a bumper sticker which is nothing more than the graphic of the web address. If it were small enough, could even slide between license plate protector and license plate. (Note: North American license is a different size which I can provide you) Thanks for all the good work! Cheers
Gavster 05-20-2007, 09:38 PM When you say sticker, do you mean that each person that downloaded it would need to print it onto a sticky-back type of paper?

Could be that way; or if dimensons are worked out, could be on regular stock and slid between license and outer holder without need for sticky paper. That way, one wouldn't messy up the bumper and it would be a little more discrete. Graphic would have to be very simple www.eosclub.com . Just a thought,

Or even www.vweosclub.com as the above link is for the Canon Eos camera:eek:
Well spotted Dave. If they had gone to print!!!!
Andrew 05-21-2007, 08:21 AM Gavin,
The flyer looks awesome, thanks for putting this together. I will send you a 300 dpi file of the logo.
Also, to all, I ordered stickers yesterday and should have them in 10 days to send to people that want them. The dimension of the sticker is 2in x 6in (5cm x 15.24cm) and has the red logo with the URL below it.
swordfish 05-21-2007, 09:16 AM Just a thought on the flyer, any chance of having a space on it to put the username of the person recommending the site? (or making two versions..one with, one without?):p
Gavster 05-21-2007, 11:23 AM Yeah - that's not a bad idea - I'll work on that later on (when I'm home)
schoolhousefred 05-21-2007, 11:42 AM Lots of great ideas guys ... sorry for my "booboo" on the URL wording. Thanks Gavin for all the work you have done in spearheading this. Beautiful sunny Victoria Day here ..... better get my yard work done early and plan an EDA!
schoolhousefred 05-21-2007, 04:32 PM Hi Andrew,
Please count me in for a few stickers once they are ready. You may want to open a Paypal account, so we can reimburse you for the costs associated with the stickers.
Yes Andrew, a PayPal account would be useful for us to pay you for your efforts in getting the stickers for us. I'm quite happy to pay a share.
Gavster 05-21-2007, 06:33 PM Yep - count me in
Gavster 05-21-2007, 10:43 PM Click here for the New Site Flyer with a space for your name (http://members.lycos.co.uk/vweos/VW_EOS_CLUB_WITH_NAME.pdf)
Here you go Swordfish Dave, I've removed the website address from the top, shoved the rest upwards and added the name bit at the bottom.
Let me know if this is the kind of thing you were thinking of.
Andrew, did you get the chance to send me the hi-res imagery?
Cheers all.
schoolhousefred 05-22-2007, 12:04 AM Looks Good Gavin,
Just one problem .... I have the "free" version of Adobe, as most people do; so I am unable to make any modifcations to the document, and that includes inserting my name into the space you provided! Any ideas? If need be, could distribute without my name, or write it in!
schoolhousefred 05-22-2007, 12:14 AM Hi Andrew,
I was kind of hoping that the sticker would be small enough to fit on a license plate without infringing on the numbers, rather than stuck on the bumper. If it is 2" high, that might be a little too big? Any thoughts? If it is too late, not to worry, I'll still use it, one way or another. Thanks again,

Gavster 05-22-2007, 07:43 AM Hello again,
The idea behind it was that you simply write your name in the box.
Let me know if not ok.

Gavin,
Yes the file was sent. Two really quick ideas:
1. In Acrobat there is a way to make a box an input box so even the free version people can type in the box. You just can't type in the box and then save the file, but you can type in the box and then send it to your printer.
2. Maybe the URL in the flier should be the same red as in the logo/font. Just a suggestion, I think it will balance and pop more than the rainbow making it easier to read.

Sorry I had already pulled the trigger on these last week. You might be able to cut it down with scissors. They weren't very expensive so I could try a second round to give people options.
Who uses PayPal and who uses Google Checkout?

Hi Gavin,
It's fine the way it is ... maybe even a little more personal if we write in out forum name. Many thanks!

Not a problem, Andrew. I'm sure we will all adapt it to license plate size if we decide to put it there. I use Paypal, and I suspect that will be the most popular due to EBay linkage. Many thanks!
Gavster 05-28-2007, 09:09 AM Hi Andrew,
I would really like to get the flyer finished. Could you please let me know which font you used for the main EOS Club logo?
Cheers
Gavster 05-30-2007, 11:20 PM Right - flyer completed - I'll start a new thread with a link to it.
