my baby is now with vw dealer as i was putting roof up while driving and went round a corner as it locked into the top of the windscreen it missed on the nearside damaging the trim under the windscreen i assume this was due to the chassis twisting going round the corner vw said they didnt have any idea how this happened;) and of course i forgot to mention the earlier removed smart top module :D

I would be most surprised if you do not get a "kick back" from the retailer, they are not daft and know the roof will not operate in normal VW mode whilst driving.
Do you not realise they also monitor this site, how do think so much technical information is supplied
Wish you luck
D.
I'm sure it looks good when doing it on the move, but I have the feeling you've discovered why it's set like it is by VW. ;) I'd guess they'd already done quite a thorough assessment of loads on the operating mechanism and the possibility of misalignment. :)

Why would you think you can operate the top while moving? I doubt that VW will fix your problem under the warranty since you broke every rule in the book by doing this.

Lots of luck, fella.
Maybe Darwin wasn't entirely wrong.

Did you ever see the Star Trek scene of James T Kirk as a wild child opening the roof of a convertible at high speed only to have it ripped off by the wind force??
