Hi Tezmand,
Thought I would reply to your thread but I'm sorry I'm as much in the dark on this one as you.
Fred can you supply any further information on this accessory?
Cheers,

Hi There to Both of You,
Many people put stone deflectors across the front of their car. They serve a purpose but are a bit of an eyesore! 3M have now come out with a clear plastic material which is applied directly to the front of the car, It is virtually invisible and provides protection from stone chips and bugs. Some people opt to do the entire front of their car, but I just put a strip about 6" wide across the full width of the hood. (bonnet to you?) The idea was suggested to me by my VW dealer, and he gave it to me as a thank you present for purchasing the car. If I had paid for it, I think it would have been in the neighbourhood of $100. I like it because not only does it protect the front of thhe car, but you barely see it. If you interested in seeing what it looks like, let me know and I will snap a picture of my car. I can't give you much more detail than that, but maybe your dealer will know about it. Please let me know if I can be of any more help. Cheers!

Hi Tezmand,
Have a look on ebay.co.uk If you search for article number '220113423134' I think this may be what you want. The post will cost more than the item. 3.99Eu + 4.95Eu post.
The picture shows it as red for display purposes only, it is clear.
They also do them for the door sills & boot sill.
Happy EDAs
Jim.

Haven't I seen them advertised as a "car bra" in the US?!

The 'Car Bra' are made of black vinyl I think (can't spell  ). In my view they look hideous. I'd rather live with the stonechips than destroy the looks of my car.
The 3M stuff is clear & invisible.
Happy EDA's

I just put the vinyl bra on my cars for long trips, since I don't use the freeway every day.
The thing with the clear bra is that you have to use it all the time and re-apply it since your paint fades differently from where it not applied. So you are commiting to its use for the life of the car...
BTW do they even sell a vinyl bra for the Eos?

Sounds a sensible precaution if you on;ly use freeways occasionally. Havn't seen them for the EOS either.
I would have thought with the very thin clear film, it wouldn't have made that much difference with fading paint. But you could be right. Guess it depends how long you keep the car.
I believe it's easy enough to remove the film, so when you sell you could take it off, T'cut or polish & you wouldn't have any stonechip marks.

I have had the 3M clear bra for 9 months now, and NO difference whatsoever between the hood colur under the strip or not under the strip, so I have no concerns or intentions about removing and replacing it. Frankly I think it looks a helluva lot better than the ugly black ones, and it would be a pain in the butt to put the black one on and off depending on the day's road conditions. I don't even notice that it is there.

Thanks Fred,
That's good to hear. Might just send of for one myself. Roads in Provence tend to get lots of little stone from run-off after it rains, it's done that a lot here this week. My EOS looks like it's not been cleaned in months after just 4 days.

My pleasure Jim ... As I mentioned earlier, my dealer installed for me at no charge. Think I have ten left thumbs on both hands, so better chance it was put on properly to fit right and with no wrinkles. Most importantly, it sems to do the trick. Cheers!
