What do people think of the new EOS. It is arriving here in the UK in March.

Check it out:

Personally, I prefer the old front grill. Although, I wouldn't say no to the new one if some was offering to buy it for me. It will be interesting to see what new gizmos come with the new model. One tiny thing I wish I had on my car would be a light around the ignition key slot so that it would be easier to find in the dark.

The new front /rear ends seem to lessen the character of the car IMO.

Well thanks for all your views. I personally prefer our shape, the new one looks more like a Golf convertible. Ours stand out more, but that's only my opinion.

Yea must admit I am not to keen on the new front end (it mite grow on me) but on the VW web site it mentions key less entry sounds interesting.

The keyless entry reminds me of when I was shopping around for a convertible prior to buying the EOS which I still have. I test drove the Renault Mégane and the sales lady told me a funny story: she took a potential customer and his family for a spin in one of their convertibles which had this keyless system. When they returned to the dealership, she let the engine running and let them drive off only to realise that she had the key in her pocket! Needless to say that had they stopped the engine somewhere for some reason, they would have been stranded, oops!

I like the 2010 look better.

Here I went and installed a Smarttop controller to get the remote roof operation. All I had to do was wait for the new model ;-)

Honestly it looks very simple. I wonder what makes it better than 2010.

One tiny thing I wish I had on my car would be a light around the ignition key slot so that it would be easier to find in the dark.

In the US for 2012, they have 3 models; the Komfort, the Lux and the Executive. Only the Komfort has a traditional key ignition with a remote fob. The Lux and Executive have the keyless entry/start system.

I just got a 2012 Lux model last weekend and have been loving it! The keyless systems is really nice; with the remote fob in proximity to the car, just touch the inside of either door handle or the trunk emblem to unlock. Touch the divot on either door handle to lock. Press the Engine Start/Stop button to start the car. In fact, the only visible lock openings on the car are the glove box and the rear seat pass-through. There's still an emergency lock cylinder on each door, but it's hidden behind a removable cap.

Therefore, you don't need more light to insert the key since you no longer have to touch the key :-)

Ask away if you have any other questions about the 2012 models, but be warned that the model is so new that I have tons of my own questions that even VW can't answer yet because they're not updated at corporate for the 2012 models.

Could this be the first second hand 2011 model EOS?

At least it looks better than the 2011 Jetta that VW decided to roll off the Honda lot! I would like to see the shape of the EOS go towards more of an Audi TT type style. If Im not mistaken there is a Blue Sport Concept thats a 2 seater, but I doubt we will ever get the pleasure of seeing it hit the US roads. Sort of like the Scirocco...just a pipe dream.

That`s £6,370 more than I paid for a brand new 2.0 TDI SE in December 2010:eek:
