What's not to love?
The 2008 Thunder Blue one was great. The 2011 Silver is phenomenal!
Particulars:
- Silver on red
- Trunk lip spoiler
- Kamei eyebrows wrapped in matte black
- Upgrade to Spa wheels (factory takeoffs that came off a new CC)
- I love the way the Xenons "dance" when the car is started
- I love the way my kids giggle when the top goes up or down. With SmartTop, I've convinced my 3 yr old it is MAGIC
- Low end torque puts a smile on my face and gets a "wheee" from the kids :)
- Warm weather, wind, Dynaudio

love the front end, chrome grille surround etc...

love the way the leather smell greets me every time I open the door...

love the 'subdued' sound of downshifts when slowing down, especially in sports mode.....

love driving to work @ 0630 roof down, sun low on the horizon, temp around 22c...

love how 'dam' sexy it is ...roof up or down.....

love the responsiveness of the engine.....in whatever mode...

Dam....what's not to love....??!!

I've only had my 2012 Eos Lux for just under 2 weeks, but so far I'm really enjoying it! My previous 2 cars (for the past 6 years) were Mini Cooper S' and the Eos is definitely different. I just left a 2009 Mini Cooper S (fully loaded) for the Eos Lux.

Eos Advantages over Mini:
* Top-down driving is fun!
* The DSG, while not a stick-shift, is really nice.
* I like having the integrated dual displays (Color Nav and basic between speedo and tach).
* The 200HP Turbo has some balls.
* The turning radius is truly impressive - better than the Mini.
* Voice reco system is more accurate, even with the top down.
* The touchscreen on the Nav is much easier and more intuitive to use than the Mini's dial and voice input.
* Bluetooth audio streaming.
* Convenience key has touch-sensitive handle to unlock or lock doors versus having to press a button on the handle to unlock/lock.

Mini Advantages over the Eos:
* Better handling - especially cornering.
* Slightly better gas mileage, but not drastically better.
* Integrated traffic on the Nav, but was frequently inaccurate so this is a wash. Only the Eos Executive has traffic in the Nav for a substantial price bumb.
* Voice reco could control more than just the phone and the CD player - could voice enter Nav destinations and any menu option in the system.
* More versatile storage (fold-down rear seats, etc.)

Wishes for the Eos Infotainment system:
* Nav system (RNS-315):Ability to pull address information from the connected phone's sync'd phone book so these addresses could be used as Nav destinations.
* Nav system (RNS-315):Ability to dial phone numbers from POI searches.
* Nav system (RNS-315):Ability to scroll the map and not just temporarily zoom map.
* Display between the speedo and tach: when displaying Sat radio info, show the artist and track name instead of the channel and category.

Overally, though, I'm loving the Eos and am looking forward to many years of top-down driving.

I love getting comments from people who have never seen the car before. Yesterday in the Home Depot parking lot, a guy in an SUV was stopped watching the top go up. When I got out, he said, "That's sick, man.". I think he means "sick" in a good way :)

Like Darren, I'm on my second Eos, and what better testament to the joy of this car is there than that?

When I got my '08 Komfort (bought as a CPO in '09, with just 4,300 miles on it), the other choice was an '06 BMW 328i convertible. The folding hardtop with a sunroof no less, the electronic gee-gaws (6-CD changer with the ability to play MP3's, and satellite radio)...there was just no other car I wanted. It was a Thunder Blue metallic with cornsilk beige interior. And with the SmartTop (bought used for $200 and installed for free by the seller), like Darren's kid says, it's magic!

And when, three years later, I had put 80,000 miles on it, I started to get a jones for another one. It never crossed my mind to get anything but an Eos. I was drooling for an Executive but I'm on a Komfort budget. I must have called or visited a dozen VW dealers and even listed my e-mail and phone info on one of those car buying sites. (One of which kept contacting me and asking, "Do you insist on a VW? We have lots of Jeeps!") Lots of web searching too...

...and then I got a hit on a used (non-CPO) '12 Executive with 8,500 miles on it for $32,000, at a VW dealership in NY. I called 'em up, and they told me they were transporting the car to their sister dealership in NJ, and was that inconvenient for me? Say whaat (I live in NJ)! I hurried to see this beautiful Exec in Rising Blue with Cornsilk Beige interior. It needed a couple of touch-ups for small paint gouges, but they were motivated closers (end-of-month), and $1,000 right off the top, and a better-than-decent trade-in on my '08.

Now I'm riding around with Dynaudio, navigation, bluetooth, controls on the steering wheel (I've always been jealous of that)--and with my birthday coming up next month, when my wife asks what I want, I know just what to tell her: magic!
