: Spotted a '12 EOS in the wild

Beautiful day today in New Jersey. Cruising through Maplewood in my '08 EOS with the top down, I saw a familiar-ish tail end in front of me. Kinda like my car, but a little more muscular looking with the creases and lights in the rear bumper. It was an oh-12 EOS with the top down. So I pulled up alongside at the next light and exchanged some pleasantries with the driver and his passenger. Driver said he just got it. Not surprising--these just hit the showrooms in the last month or two.

When the light changed, he turned left and I went straight, and saw his front-end in my rear view. It strikes a jarringly mundane note in an otherwise even more stylish car this model year.

I've put almost 60k miles on my EOS in two years. Still loving it!

I saw a 2012 Eos on the dealer's lot the other day, and I agree the new front end is bland. Yet another variation on the same grill VW is putting on all their updated models. The new tail does look sharp, though.

Our '09 only has 17K miles on it, so I imagine we'll hang on to it for a few more years. Not to mention the fact that the six-speed is longer a USDM Eos option, and my wife and I prefer manual transmissions.

Thank goodness. The CC also seems to have escaped the ugly grill for now, but I'm sure it will get it during its next freshening.

There were some spy pictures of the 2013 CC in either Motor Trend or Automobile Magazine this month and sure enough the suspicion is that they will glue the squared off new corporate face onto the CC. Unfortunate. Very unfortunate.

I certainly have my own opinion regarding the 2012 Eos face and I am not as in love with it as the original. That's why when I decided to replace my 2008 model, in January I scoured the US to get one of the few available 2011s in the colors I wanted before the 2012s started arriving in showrooms here.

HOWEVER(!) I think it is very important that we not alienate our fellow Eos owners who purchase 2012 models. No matter what the "look", we all agree that the EOS is the only CSC vehicle out there, and offers a lot of fun for the buck.

I got my 2012 a little over two months ago (April 12th) - and I kind of like the horizontal grille. While it is not as distinctive as the chrome "face", I think it fits the overall lines of the vehicle a little better. Of course, YMMV.

Well, horizontal grille notwithstanding, I wouldn't throw her out of bed!

'Tis still an EOS , and that's what matters....I think the new 'shape' looks better in the flesh than in pics really.....

But I do love my '08..... :-)

happy EOSing whatever the shape.....
