I recently pulled and replaced my 2.0T FSI engine cover to check the air filter, which is accessed by removing the cover and taking it apart to get to the air filter in the middle of it.

All seemed OK, but after replacing the cover I had the dreaded engine light on the dash. Somehow I had broken the plastic electrical connector part on top of the N205, Camshaft Adjustment Valve, causing it to disconnect. It is at the right rear top of the cylinder head right underneath the cover. The back of the cover hangs down past the back of the cylinder head and down behind N205.

Just wanted all to know that it is very important that when removing or replacing the cover, make sure back part of the cover that hangs down does not snag on and break that control valve. It has a very flimsy plastic top that easily breaks  It has a list price of $284 US.

Beware! An DYI air filter change can become really expensive on the Eos 2.0T FSI. Luckly I was able to do a semi-permanant repair to my broken part with some electrical tape and wire ties rather than have to immediately replace it. FYI #1 on the attached drawing is the connector that plugs into the top of the camshaft control valve.
