I'm going to (I think I'm going to) change my car. My lovely car. To what? - another Eos, of course! An automatic.
I think.

Oh dear - another convert to the dark side :D:D:D.

I will always prefer a manual to an automatic but it appears I am a member of a rapidly decreasing segment of the vehicle market and it will soon be uneconomic for manufacturers to offer manual transmission on most of their models.

Whatever your final decision, we all know you will have the Eos grin every time you go out in your car :).

I know, I know. The automatic idea is my husband's not mine, and as he seems to do most of the driving when we go on holiday .....
However, I have just come back from the local VW showroom - they are not taking orders for new Eoses at least until later this year :( On the positive side, I keep my beauty for another few months at least :D

Ooo, so you're tempted with the automatic then eh?
I'm semi-tempted but house situation comes first!

When are we all meeting up next? Been too long!

The DSG is a wonderful gearbox, so smooth. It's great until the car breaks down and you can't get gearbox out of park position, as happened with mine recently when I couldn't get key into ignition (not sure how common this is) and it took several hours to get the car onto breakdown truck. However I had an horrendous journey days later, hours stop-start where I was pleased to have the DSG. Overall I love an automatic, especially around the twisty narrow roads of North Wales where I live. If most of your driving is main road/motorway stuff then manual is fine.

And we have the M25! And Central London. And the south-east. We can't go anywhere without getting into a traffic jam

Will you be getting one then?
If so, will you have it before Sunday? ;-)

The DSG is the best gearbox I have ever had! I have 2... One on the EOS and one on the Touran. Awesome! :)

I agree. Normally, automatics don't thrill me that much, but the DSG, once it is mastered, is a fantastic and fun tranny to drive with.

My CC, VR6 has the regular auto, which is very good but the quick "Lock Up" of the gears in the DSG is hard to beat. Also, what is interesting is that the DSG is even a bit quicker than the Manual.

By the way, until purchasing my current Eos and CC, I have mostly had Manual trannys but I must admit, the DSG is a blast, although it takes a few hundred miles to learn its differences from other automatics.

I just turned 70 and have had a lot of driving experience. In fact, I started being a car enthusiast when I was 12 years old and it has only gotten BETTER, or as my wife might say, "It has only gotten WORSE".:)
