: Replacing the Standard Footrest

Does anyone know how to remove the trim panels near the footrest and bonnet (hood) release lever.?

I've bought a replacement footrest with s/s inserts to match the other 2 pedals.
It's a genuine VW part, looks easy to fit. But I can't see how the trim panel comes off. They seem to be interlocked along with the door sill trim panel.

I don't want to damage anything by forcing things.
If no one knows guess I'll have to pay the dealer to fit the new rest. :(

Happy EDA's,
Jim.

Hi Paul, Thanks. That helped a lot. Mark doesn't show the clips though.

In case anyone else does this job. Here are some pics. You need a T20 torx bit to remove the dead pedal retaining screw.
Lift up the sill trim panel first & ease out the clips in the door sill then the 'A' panel trim comes off easily. It's held captive by the screw below the bonnet release & a tongue which goes under the sill trim. (see 'A' trim pic).

I'm pleased with the result. Cost me 25Euro inc p&p on ebay- why don't VW fit them as std : Saving a few pennies again.

Jim.
