Hi All,
After 3 Vdubs, I had the WORST experience with a BMW X5.......39 months of dissappointment, one after another.....anywho.....I"m back! I recently took a trip to a Metro NYC VW dealer and was amazed by the EOS 3.2 with a sport package. Islang Gray, Xenon lights, Nav, I was in love.......not lust, but true love....until I heard the price....$41k and change with no room to play? I don't have the time or the patience to go from dealer to dealer......Is this the going thing? MSRP and that's it? It has been 4 weeks and I drive by religiously and it's still there. Any word on when the '08s are comming out? Has everyone else paid sticker? Thanx!

Good Day Motorshell,
My buying experience is Canadian, so it may not be totally relevant. The demand for the new EOS has been quite good, owner's admiration of it has been exceptionally high, changes for 2008 are very limited, and in fact some people are happier that they bought a 2007 over the 2008, and the supply to the US has been limited ... about 1000 cars per month. All this, of course, has helped to keep the prices up.
Notwithstanding, I have heard a number of cases where the car has been discounted ... some have even said they paid marginally above dealer invoice. Not sure I believe all the claims I read! You should; however, expect some discount, especially as we reach the end of the model year ... I understand the 2008 designation commnces sometime in August! I would suggest, if your time is limited, you either look to a buying service (including Costco) or make a few phone calls to dealers, indicate what options you are looking for, and see what transpires. I am sure you will do better than full MSRP! Good luck!
P.S. I paid full price, but bought the car and took delivery the day they were launched in Canada, so discounting was not available. I did get an excellent trade-in (far better than others were offering and it wasn't a VW product) and lots of free "goodies" thrown in.

Full sticker and all we got free was installation of Mud flaps ( 1 hour labor) and the free clear mask hood and bumper protection plastic ( about $180 plus labor).

FYI. between two dealers was a 1800 trade in difference on our turbo beetle.

Good afternoon Motorshell,

On 28 May 2007, I purchased our '07 EOS 2.0T (coincidentally in the Island Gray Pearlescent exterior with the cornsilk beige leather interior), with the DSG 6-speed automatic/manual transmission; Luxury/Sport Package, WAU; EOS Rubber Floor Mats, EMM; Premium Radio System with 10 speakers, PSO; and the Samarkand 18" Alloy Wheels, PSA....with P235/40HR18 Pirelli P6 Four Season Tires....with an MSRP of $36,014.00. After a few hours of negotiating with my dealer I ended up buying our EOS for $33,416.00 which is $81.00 LESS than the Dealer $33,495.00 Dealer "INVOICE" price shown on www.kbb.com, which is Kelly Blue Book's website. Of course I had to pay NC sales tax and a $300.00 "documentation fee", but all in all....I think I got a GREAT deal. Additionally, they gave me a FANTASTIC trade-in value on my 2004 Ford F-150 Lariat Supercrew with 113,00 miles on it.....of $1,200.00 MORE than the HIGHEST listed "black Book" trade-in value for my truck...:) :D  !!!

I think that they really went out of their way to sell me the EOS, because they were trying to sell 100 cars in the month of May, a feat that they had never achieved in ANY prior month.....and they were still 19 cars short on the 28th day of the month, not to mention that their business was off a bit due to the fact that it was Memorial Day weekend.

Mr Shell - $41k in US = £21k UK - we can't buy the basic 2.0T with no extras for that!! And it has to be shipped a few thousand miles further!! Buy, and put those silly Bimmer days behind you, kind of like adolescence!

Enjoy
