Are Eagle GT's on the EOS a good tire with the stock 17" rims?

I didn't care for them on my 2008. I thought they were loud and lacked traction. I'm much happier with the Continental ProContacts that came with my 2011. They did seem to wear ok, though as there was plenty of tread left when I traded in the 2008 with 22,000 miles on it.
