But its nearly over, 3 sleeps to go lol. took my insurance details into the dealership yesterday, booked my 9am pick up slot for Saturday. My Eos has left the dealers compound and is now in the prep area, even with all the protective white covering and padded strips that have been attached for the past few weeks she looked stunning. My dealer has 3 Eos' to go on Saturday the other 2 are both tdis one black and the other silver.

Golly, I admire your patience. Here in the states, we go to the dealership, get diddled, and take the car home. Perhaps if you were more of a rent-boy, you'd have your car by now? :D

Picking up my EOS individual on Saturday also. Again counting down the time until I swap my cars.
Only saw 3 x EOS's at my dealer and I was the only one with an individual.

Any conversation that starts with Denny telling me firstly I am female, I know I'm in trouble. :) Sorry, m'am.

For the record, a rent boy is a boy that collects the rent or a boy that is collected for rent. It's been a long time since I've been to Ft. Lauderdale - but you should be able to find one on most any corner near the beach. Pond refers to the Atlantic Ocean. Kids today. You have to explain everything.

Good luck on your Eos pick up. I hope all goes smoothly.

Where are you Denny .......... ready to "come out fighting"?

Look who's stirring up trouble. And, I refrained from posting the dictionary definition for diddle and rent boy. Both definitions are quite colorful. In the end I decided it was off topic. :) Denny, I suspect, is trying to stay a lady.

Look who's stirring up trouble.............
Not me!
Had "fish n chips" tonight with a couple from Manchester, and asked them what the definition of a "rent boy" was. Definitely means the same thing on both sides of the pond! Think I'll refrain from inciting any further unrest. Have a great day Sealy and Jamcar wherever you are! Got to admit it's nice to see a little excitement around here! Roberta, when does your new car arrive?

Hi! I have heard nothing since they estimated 16 weeks when I ordered it in mid June. So, still about 7 weeks to go. I am excited and somewhat impatient at the moment. The wait should become totally excrutiating as the time draws closer. The wait is also getting way too expensive. I keep shopping for stuff -- practical and not so. I need to stop!! :-)

I was just teasing you about inciting the masses, btw.

Upset me? Nooooo. What could upset me when I only have 2 sleeps left before my Eos.
Anyway is it possible to get upset with sealy? yes, he suggested that I should employ rent boy tactics, but those are words out of the mouth of someone who admits to living in COTTAGE city!! what a poetic situation lol.

Back to cars - There's now a rumor circulating that Senator Craig thought the gentleman in the next stall was a car dealer and he was working on delivery of a new Cadillac. He had already secured the alloy wheels and was working on getting satellite radio.

Have a nice day, everyone. :)

Hi sealy lol.
Well after a wait of 19 looooong weeks I eventually got to pick my eos up on saturday morning. was a lilttle worried that after the long wait and all the hype it would be an anti climax, how wrong was I? I havent got a car,I have got an Eos!!
I am totally addicted I drive with a demented grin from ear to ear on my face, I am paranoid when stopping that some soppy ole git is going to run up my tail.I try hard to ignore the admiring looks, I dont even try and kid myself they are for me lol. and I have this desire to drive aimlessly for hours and hours everything else has paled into insignificance. my pride and joy hopes and dreams are all wrapped up in a gorgeous blue Eos.
Yes I have become a true Eosite, the only things I do not like are, why cant people use the handles and have to put hand marks on the body work gggrrrr, why do I have people volunteering to come in the car with me when shes mine and I want to be alone.
Im a girl and used to say,a cars just a thing to get you from a to b, a tin can on wheels. yeah right how misguided was I?
will try desperately to post something with a bit more substance next time, but for now im bowled over and have to go as im sure I needed to be somewhere that involved a drive!!! :) :) :) :)

Gav I will take your advice and change my signature, and will try and master the art of posting some pics.
Fred im sure I will be the same as you in a years time and still love my Eos.
The dealership I used was Wayside Towcester, and I have to give them a big thumbs up, I was kept informed all the way through on progress with the build, they done what they said when they said, my Eos came with 6 cd changer when I had ordered the ipod connection, and a marked multi function steering wheel, a date has already been booked for this to be rectified.the whole team are very friendly and helpful. I have read some horror stories on this forum regarding dealerships, so would say to anyone in the Northants area try this dealership over Autohouse who I had approached first and found to be quite unhelpful.

I'm still waiting, sealy bring it on!!! lol. You will have a job to upset me I own an Eos lmao, no I have one upset at mo, but not at all car related.
I am absolutely bowled over with the car, even things that I thought would have to be worked around are not an issue. The boot space is fine, have done a full shop that completely fitted within the space provided, and was still able to operate roof. Its deceptive as to how much you will be able to carry boot wise, its a veritable tardis!.
We are experiencing a lil bit of an Indian summer here at the moment, so have taken total advantage of that with lots of topless driving, even in the evening when the temperature drops I have really enjoyed the roof down and the heated seat on. its so toastie warm.
The girl loves her EOS and has no complaints at the moment, lets just hope it stays that way eh?

Denny, Awesome. I'm very happy for you... it is always good to see someone excited about a new ride. It's obvious it has gotten into you just as it has all of us.

I hate it though... I just saw your thread today for the first time and I wish I could have caught it at first with a nice bowl of popcorn and watched the action - very entertaining.

My problem was when I got my Eos I test drove it here (all are already on the lots here in the states) and then went on a week trip. There were only two in the state at the time that had my preferences and I had to risk losing it before I left. I was too indecisive to commit to it before I left. And for a week I was wondering if the car has sold. I'm not sure if it is the same over there, but here, if you start drooling at the dealer you can forget it... they will charge the pants out of you with this fee and that.

geez.. I'm just blah blah blah... I'll stop now and stop hijacking your thread.

Hope you are sleeping better now that you have your Eos.

I can only surmise what you mean by preferences, but I'm sure there are more than two in GA. As for the drooling, I'd like to see your dealer. See my first post, that got me in trouble, about having relations with your dealer to ge a better price. You need to work what you got.

Ok had my Eos a good week now, the novelty factor is not wearing thin, infact its growing. I can only describe ny car as GERTLUSH.
VW are having the car tomorrow to rectify a few niggles, my multifunction steering wheel arrived with a graze, I was given a 6 cd changer instead of an ipod connection, VW tell me that they will keep the cd changer in place and add the ipod connector on top! is this possible? I have vague recollections of reading somewhere that it was one or the other.
One other silly thing, is the roof switch back to front to anyone else ???

I think that they will give you the cable for the iPod that goes in the glove compartment.

I also agree with you that the roof switch seems to be back to front, its just not intuitive.

VWconvert
09-11-2007, 03:37 PM
I think the roof switch is intuitive. Push it down to lower the roof, lift the switch to put it up. That's my my Eos is anyway. Is that what you are reffering to?

ja51don
09-11-2007, 05:09 PM
I too agree that the roof switch is back to front but tend to think thats for a reason.

Is your 6 cd in the boot as ive got a 6 disc dash mount with ipod but as I remember you couldnt have sat nav & dash mount 6 disc.

Also my ipod lead came in glove compartment wasnt over impressed by that. For £150 I could have done it myself. but due to a leaky roof i have now re-ordered a brand new model hopefully this will come with ipod in the armrest as I had expected.

still love it though :)

jamcar
09-12-2007, 11:10 AM
jasidon, what reason would they have for putting the roof switch back 2 front?? i'm intrigued as to why you would think this.
My 6 cd changer is in the cubby under the armrest (yes I have sat nav)
Today and hopefully only today I am driving a Golf 1.4si, afraid I can not do a full length indepth review on my courtesy car, like the one Gavster treated us all to on his. But what I can tell you is, its so slow, keep checking hand brake is off and the overall feel inside is very travel lodge, but suppose im not being fair I am now used to my Eos, and I find that very Inn on the park. lol
I have requested that they do not supply me with the simple ipod lead that comes from the glove compaartment, as this is not what I originally signed up for, I ordered the port that sits in the cup holder, but it will be interesting to see what the end result is.
ja51don, you seem to have fought your way through the VW red tape, for them to reoreder you a replacement Eos, you will have to let us in on your secret, thankfully so far my Eos did not come with the same optional extra as yours. the boot pool lol.All the best with the replacement

Scooby Doo
09-12-2007, 12:56 PM
My factory fitted ipod connection is in the middle armrest. It's actually quite fiddly to use - it's best to put the ipod on shuffle and then leave it to play. I also can't get the ipod to go in if the holder is in place you have to put the ipod in the connection then fit the holder over the top (being careful to not touch the ipod controls or you have to start again as the screen is facing away from you!) In my opinion it probably would be easier to use on a cable in the glovebox.

jamcar
09-12-2007, 02:48 PM
Have just got car back, steering wheel insert has been replaced, ipod port has been fitted, yes in the glove box!!!! I imagined that it was going to be loose, but it is all very neat and attached to side of box, BUT its not where I specified. Apparently its a relatively easy job to move, and they are going to come out to me and do it.
Praise where praise is due, the dealership Wayside Towcester has really come up trumps for me always approachable friendly courteous and very accomadating, even when they make a ricket such as ipod siting, they hold their hands up and rectify as soon as possible. Quite a rare thing nowadays.

Hornet9
09-12-2007, 02:54 PM
My iPod connection in middle armrest works fine with my Nano v2. And the iPod screen faces you. If you try moving the iPod holster around a bit in the holder you can get it to slot in nicely.

Regarding the roof switch. Think of it as push down for roof down and pull up for roof up. Simple !

jamcar
09-12-2007, 03:44 PM
My ipod connection cant go in the middle armrest as VW installed a 6 cd changer by mistake, and have said that they will leave it in situ and fit the ipod connecton elsewhere.
The penny has finally dropped regarding the roof switch, after a week of pushing it the wrong way and starting to curse that my roof had packed in. lol

09-12-2007, 09:28 PM
Hi Jamcar, my thought of the roof switch is that it just makes me think before I press, even then I’m sitting there thinking this roof isn’t working, Doh!! just cant seem to get the hang of it but then again the mix of U.K. weather, trying to get the car off the wife and VW had my car for 5 weeks during the not often sunny weather means I don’t get to press the beloved button all that often in fact think ive drove 4 times minus the roof and 1 of them was with my niece at 8 o'clock on Christmas eve thank goodness for heated seats.

As for the secret of getting a new car I don’t think we tried very hard to be honest. It is a long story. basically the car leaked we took it back got a 1.2 polo base model courtesy car were told we would have the car back within 4 days then later we were told a further few days and so on for 4 weeks when we finally said enough and we requested our money back (this is how I stumbled on this forum). at this time we started looking for a different car but looking at all the pictures presented on this site and the lack of a decent replacement I then sort of put it to the dealer we would be happy if they would replace the car instead of our money back this they agreed and offered us a hired golf but it was my suggestion to use the leaky eos and dry it out once a week whilst we wait for the new one. This took a full 5 1/2 weeks.

Jamcar you say your ipod is all very neat and attached to side of glove box mine is just a loose lead in the glove box, sounds like that would be better.

Aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
Ok here goes, ipod port fitted in glove box yesterday, wrong location but still worked, sounds good BUT unless you are inspector gadget its not easy to get it up and running. When you eventually do get it all going there is no visible tag on the mdf, yeah I had heard about this but until you actually go to use it you dont realise what a pain it is not to have. My real problem now is, and this is where I really need some pointers please, can not get my cds to play, the display either shows no cds or gives me the numbers grayed out. Have tried all sorts but to no avail.
btw, radio is fine

Sealy
09-13-2007, 10:42 AM
From past experience with other cars, I think we've got bad news for you. The iPod and the 6CD use the same plug on the back of your radio. To plug in the iPod, they unplugged the CD. You can have one or the other, but not both. Some car companies make adapters and there are some after market units - but I've not looked VW specific as I don't require one. Try talking to your service folks - unfortunately they sound like a bunch of wankers. They should have told you this up-front and done the install correctly. Sorry. :(

jamcar
09-13-2007, 12:34 PM
Thanks sealy,
I'm all sorted now. It has been explained to me that the ipod connector can be sited in the drinks holder, but it will be a single lead and depending on size of ipod it could rattle about. So I will leave it where it is.
VW have been on the phone to explain how to reset the cd player after it has been over riden by an ipod
Will post solution here incase anyone else has same problem.
Go to cd 6 track 9, hold fast forward button in for 5 secs and hey presto.

My Eos had its first wash by me today, the car has been permagarded and therefore only needed to be hosed down and dried with a synthetic chamois. the leather has been treated with permagard as well, and all I had to do was wipe the seats and leather areas with a ph neutral wet wipe. The car looks absolutely stunning and anyone would have thought I had spent all day on it, when infact it was a really quick process.
Also had a couple of trips without the wind deflector in place, had not realized what a terrific job it does. The wind deflector is a definite must for when the back seats are not in use.

KEVINP

I had it done for when I picked up the car. I have had the EOS individual since the 1st of September. I decided on the treatment as it as I came from a R32 and it took ages to clean and get the same effect. Well worth the cost as far as I am concerned.

What a bunch we have here. No pics, just the facts? For the last 57 years I've been a he. No intention of changing. And I've never put a lass into or out of her misery - you're safe with me Denny.

Hmmm, I think that if you check under my kilt, you may find that your assumption is in error. Even with a good bit of Scotch in me, I can still tell the differnce between a laddie and a lassie. :D

I'd rather not thanks if you don't mind (look under your kilt, that is).

mmmmmmm time for a change of subject, me thinks.
I have had the big black number plate mount taken off my car and a chrome surround fitted instead it really neatens the front of the car up, I am surprised at what a difference it makes.

Wish we didn't have to use front plates and ours is a different size than European standard so really does not coordinate with body mouldings. Anyhow, good for you Denny.

shopped around and found best match and one with a lil play in was Halfords. they were only £10 each. but it really gives the car a much cleaner finish
