well, i've had my car since aug 31. lovin it . but on my long trip after thanksgiving i got a couple of paint chips in my hood. unfortunately we share the road with big trucks who kick up gravel. went to my dealer and by giving him my VIN number i was able to get some paint pens to match my paint. only about 10 bucks a set. (one paint and one clear coat) just be sure to preoad the tip of the pen then dab on, only in area paint is missing. warmish weater is best. (out of sun) and let dry awhile before applying clear. i can hardly find the spots when i'm even looking for them. oh and i'm midnight blue (aka thunder blue) with cornsilk leather luxuray package, DSG, and dynaudio premium sound. 17 in wheels. oh and the windblocker is part of the package. this car is the best. oh and i only have a minor water leak with this past week of rain. it's in the area of the female receptor where the arms lock into the windshield area. the water drips on to the edge of my seat or pant leg. this i will be talking to my dealer about. but it hasn't fazed me in my love of the fun car

did you get the paint pens from the VW service dept? That is a much better price than I would expect. I 2ml touchup paint tube from mitsubishi (my last car) was $25!. I'm glad you got your chips taken care of and good luck on the leak. I think that is a first hearing about a leak in that particular area. Keep us posted on the cause and solution!

i think all VW dealers can order them from the parts department. easy to use. and i thought i had a midnight blue car, but upon reading the posts and realizing that midnight blue is in the UK and thunderblue is inth US. so i guess i'm thunder blue. oh well. it's a great color any way you look at it. and after nearly eight months of driving. i'm still smittin.

Yes, your dealer should supply on request. Mine did when I asked for one on delivery, but had to wait a week whilst he ordered the paint stick. I suggest you go back and ask, I got mine free but you may have to pay, but it's worth it.

This is to Californiakidlet. I see where you too have a leak problem and it sounds like it's in the exact same spot as mine. Have you been able to do anything about it? My dealer is flummoxed.

well the dealers here are just as confused. i did notice that sometimes i had no leak and other times i did. i wonder if it has to do with how well it seals when the two pieces come togeather. i am planning on getting the sealing stuff from VW that everyone talks about and using it. especially since our hot weather is coming and i don't want the seals to dry out. (could that cause shrinkage?) we are past our rainy season here. (now hitting 70's and 80's and inching up to 100's  ) so far my leak, when i have it, did not soak my carpet. but we had a light rainy season this year...so i do worry abit about next year. also when i wash my car, spray it with a hose i do get little dribbles of water on the inside of the windows....close to where the two pieces fit together. i hope it's the same place as when it rains....i would hate to have more than one leak area to deal with... oh...and i love the paint pens. while we're asking questions.... with my great weather and top down time, what is the best leather protector from sun and wind? and andrew.... i love this site and all the info gleaned here....
