Hi,
I have a 2013 EOS Komfort and the glass on the driver's side fog lamp broke. I have a replacement assembly but don't know how to remove the old one to replace it with the new one. Can anyone help with some instructions?

Thanks
James

Probably answered a zillion times, but here it is: there is a little hook with the tooling in the back of your car. It is meant to be used to get the covers of your wheel nut off. But you can also use it to remove the front covers of the fog lamps. There is a little hole in these where you can stick the hookin. Then just pull off the covers, with a little force! Then you can use a wrech to remove three bolts which hold the fog lamp in place and change the unit. Real easy.

Also for a 2013 Eos, does anyone the exact type/size screwdriver/bit required to remove the fog light itself? I don't want to try pulling off the cover until the replacement light arrives but, I've shined a flashlight through the tiny hole and it looks like maybe a torx security screw or something along those lines. But, it's really hard to see through that hole so I can't tell exactly what it is and certainly not what size. If anyone knows from experience or can reference a 2013 service manual, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Good luck with the hook tool.

When I first tried it on MY07 with the fender off the car and plastics that have aged and hardened, it broke off a tab on the painted trim cover. Now I add on a small amount of extra work to remove the front wheel arch lining and release the cover clips from behind. It's also not much work to remove the front fender screws, leave it attached to the top slide locks and just lift it upwards a few inches.

Thanks for the replies but I'd still love to find out what type/size screwdriver/bit is needed to remove the fog light itself? I have a few standard torx bits but if this requires a security torx or something else, I'm going to have to buy it and I want to make sure I get the right one. I've done a lot of searching (here, other sites, info for various replacement fog lights) and I haven't found anywhere that actually tells you what is required. I'm sure myself (and others in the future) would be greatly helped by knowing. Thanks in advance to anyone who already knows or can find out from a service manual and can post the answer.

Good that you want to do things with the right tools.

The good news is that, when VW use Torx screws, they are standard Torx screws. If you have T20, T25 and T30 Torx screwdrivers in your toolbox, you will be set for the vast majority of bodywork screws in the car. (The seats are attached with screws with 12-pointed spline heads, and of course there will be bolts with regular hex heads too, but that’s not relevant to this job.)

Not everywhere! There are 2 types of 'Torx' splines - 6 point most common on small fasteners around the trims. But also12 point type e.g. suspension and brakes. If you put a 6 point tool in a 12 point fastener it will appear to be o.k, then a turn or 2 later you and are left having to drill out a bolt. :(

Sorry, when I said Torx I meant six-pointed Torx screws, and that they were standard as opposed to the security Torx screws where the driver needs to have a hole in the middle.

I knew about the 12-pointed screws on the seats (and steering wheel, now I think about it) but I didn’t know about the suspension and brakes.
