Default Fuel cap problem

My fuel cap flap isn't opening when lifting the button on the drivers door for the cap to release. I can hear the motor which controls the release making the usual small purring noise so there is power just nothing making it open?

Any thoughts on how to resolve as the only way to open flap is to slip a screwdriver around edge and prize it open.

Help please, thanks.

also check your owner's manual there is a manual release in the trunk. If you have been prying the door open it may be too late you may have already broken the latch and done permanant harm to the fuel door latch system.
