My girlfriend's 08 VW EOS 2.0T, 100k+ miles, passenger window was taking 4 button pushes to roll up. The 1st push must be down then 3 pulls for up. Today was the same but it was straining really bad. It almost sounded like something may be stuck in the gearing. It finally went up about 1/2 inch at a time but again, straining really hard. Is this just another of a MULTITUDE of undiagnosable VW computer issues or is there actually a mechanical issue?
I sware this car has more computer issues and codes than it does miles.

V.W use a tensioned wire running around plastic pulleys to raise and lower windows. Over time the steel wire can go rusty and fray causing it to jam. Sounds like her rear window needs a new 'regulator'. If the window regulators aren't o.k, the roof won't work or worst may stop half open. Best to keep the window raised and the roof closed until you can repair it.

If you decide to repair it yourself you will be showing how much you love her because a rear window regulator is a pig of a job to do correctly. When one side fails, the other and the fronts will be next. It's age and water that kills them, not mileage. Search here for regulator.
