You don't say where you are but I'll guess somewhere in the British Isles. If you check the VW UK website you will see that the engine you are asking about is an optional ( petrol) engine on the base model and standard base engine on the Sport model. It seem to only be available with a 6 speed manual. For what little info they have please check the VW website.
