I've bought an aftermarket satnav/dvd/bluetooth/tv/reversing system/ipod adaptor/and other stuff, which replaces the standard fitment radio/CD system.

I need to pick up a 12V+ wire, hopefully in the centre console behind the radio - any suggestions?

On other vehicles, I have always used the active lead to the cigarette lighter which is invariably close to the radio/player unit.

it also has the advantage that it is usually "live" when the ignition is turned off which allows the electronic memory for the presets to be maintained rather than being lost when the ignition is turned off.

I would be surprised if you cannot pick up the live power feed to the existing unit.

Hmmm, 12v from the quadlock connector, but the ign 12v you will have to pick up from Airbag Off light loom... (Or cigarette lighter)... Unfortunately, there is no +12v ignition source from the quadlock as the radio is can bus controlled!

I am really showing my age now - still locked into conventional wiring harnesses that can be traced and modified  .

Haven't been allowed near the Eos yet - she who must be obeyed is keeping it all to herself :( .

The unit itself picks up its power through an adaptor which plugs into the VW radio harness, so that wasn't a problem. I needed switchable power for a dual fakra active antenna, which as suggested I picked up from the back of the console power plug.

This unit is an AVC9000, which as stated is a GPS / Radio / Bluetooth / Ipod /USB /Analogue TV / Rear Camera / CD Player / DVD Player, which I think Silvershadow would have seen on the VWWatercooled forum.

I am still sorting out bits and pieces, but so far I am quite impressed. It is fairly similar to the Zenec units discussed and pictured elsewhere in the Eos Forum, but in Australia, less than half the price.
