I recently bought a 2007 EOS 2.0t with a DSG transmission. The car itself is in excellent shape with only 90K miles, however, the check engine light is constantly on, and the PRNDS display flashes soon after engaging into drive or reverse. The ignition switch has to be turned off and then on to get the car to move forward or back. It feels as if the transmission is disengaging from the engine, usually coupled with a muffled clunking sound. I bought a cheap Amazon VAG scanner (Konnwei KW450) and it's saying the car has a P1624 fault code. The fault code was erased but came back immediately. Information on this particular model seems scarce and I'm not sure where to look next. I have some automotive experience but haven't worked in the automotive field since the late '90s. Any insight on how to fix this or where to look next would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
