I want to replace the air filter in my 2008 2lTurbo. But I can't find the location. If it is under the engine cover, how do I get that off? I don't feel any snaps or see any screws around the edges.

I have a 2007 and the air filter is built into the engine cover. It is a pain in the ass to change...unless someone knows something I don't. To remove the enging cover, you have to grip it on either side in the rear and pull up hard and steady. Then the same about in the middle. I thought I would break it before it popped free and, in fact, one of the retainers has been damaged. Once off you must disassemble it into two pieces, change the filter and reassemble. Thankfully you don't need to do it very often. I'm sure someone with more knowledge can give you a better discription on how to do it.

Hi,

Steve is correct , but i would add that you need to remove the plug to the air flow meter (2007 2.0 t) as well which means the sensor is in the engine cover so dont drop it once removed.

I have also found that a little washing up liquid on the rubber washers (4 of them) helps them seat in the engine cover and make it easier to remove next time as they dry out due to heat. I think there might be better options than washing up liquid but it seems to work ok
