I hit up another VW dealer and they had a 2008 VR6 3.2-liter V6 with a Navigation, 6 CD changer, and other options. It would be sold as pre-owned with about 4,000 miles and only 1 owner. It gets the additional warranty which would end in September 2013 or 74,000 miles. I am trying to compare it to a 2009 Lux with Navigation and some other similar added features.

When all is said and done, the 2008 would be about $35 more a month, but have an additional 13 month warranty, the V6 engine with all the other V6 amenities.

I'm fighting the urge to go buy one of them, and I would really appreciate input from 2008 V6 owners, or people who have driven them :)

Thanks again!

I have a 2008 VR6 and love it. I've got 27,000 miles on it and all of them have been very enjoyable. I've had to learn to be easy on the throttle at traffic lights or the tires will squeal. The sport mode is very fast and I have yet to keep it in sport mode all the way up to 6th gear.

I went with the VR6 becasue it had almost everything I wanted standard. I did not get the nav unit but I did get the bi-xenon headlights. Since the weather has been so nice around these parts lately the top has been down constantly.

I'm very happy with my 2008 2.0T. The Lux for 2008 had the parking sensors standard. I think it is optional for 2009. Plenty of power out of the 2.0T and I liked the low end torque out of the 2.0T over the feel of the V6 when I drove it back in 2007. Just wondering if it is less costly to insure a V6 vs a Turbo or if it all comes out the same. Honestly, I'd find it hard to go wrong with either! Don't fight the urge at all. Buy one and enjoy the summer. You will NOT regret either decision.

A few pros & cons for the VR6 and the 2.0T:

If gas mileage is a concern, the VR6 gets about 3mpg less across the board city/combined/hwy vs. the 2.0T.

The VR6 has greater HP and torque than the 2.0T (250hp/235ftlb vs. 200hp/207ftlb). However, the 2.0T motor is fairly easy to upgrade to power & torque levels greater than the VR6.

So, if you're not looking for the best gas mileage and aren't comfortable modding your car (yet want maximum performance), the 2008 VR6 may be your best option.

Enjoy whichever one you choose!

Performance figures for both engines are very similar.
The V6 however is a heavier engine so the car will not be so agile with extra weight over the front wheels.

The V6 sells very few in the UK because the 2.0T suits our roads/style of driving very well, and would on the whole say the 2.0T is more the 'sporty' variant whilst the V6 is the more relaxed cruiser, which generally suits most Americans for their freeways.

We don't all drive on freeways/turnpikes. I have plenty of back roads with lots turns and hills to play on.:D

It is heavier (by about 183 lbs) but that's not all the engine. It comes standard with driver and passenger electric seats which I'm sure add some to the weight. They also move the batteries to the trunk because they just won't fit under the hood.
