Just noticed that the UK sales doucments have been updated with the new EOS spec for 2009 and the new engine has a slight increase in MPG:
2008:
Urban 35.5
Extra Urban 56.5
Combined 47.1
2009:
Urban 38.2
Extra Urban 58.9
Combined 48.7
Actual the increase is better than slight if you are an urban dweller!!!
So those with a frugal right foot should be able to eek 60mpg on a long run!
