Hi,

I put my baby in storage for 5 months (Winter) and when I tried to turn her over, no luck. I had it jumped and the dealer said the batteries cost $400.00 (wow!). But these are gel based not liquid, hence the cost (good thing it was under warranty!). It took 2 weeks to get the battery since the dealerships didn't predict the need to stock these so early (I guess there are two different sets of batteries, one for the V4 and V6).
Now my baby is doing fine but didn't know if anyone else experienced this same problem?
I also had the dealer run the test to make sure there weren't any technical services that registered before the summer fun! (Thank God for edmunds.com to list these :))

Has anyone used regular unleaded in their cars instead of premium? The price of gas is a downer and I didn't know if has caused any problems for others?

Thanks and enjoy the summer!

There are a lot of threads on here about fuel that you should read before committing to any one type. It is recommended that you use high octane fuel and from my experience I get a couple of extra mpg but no real performance gain. I used regular unleaded for about the first 8 months till I was put right on this forum. Now its only the best for my Eos.

Why does the Eos need a Gel battery? Does anyone know the charging voltage as this could be the only reason for the requirement.

Hi,

I was told that the Eos needs two batteries (one for the hood and one for the car) and that the gel batteries were used since they hold the charge longer than liquid (especially when the roof is constantly being used).
Whether this is true, I don't know.

For the 3.2l the main reason for two batteries is that there is not enough room in the engine compartment for the heavy duty battery required for turning over the engine and for the other electrics including the roof. The simple solution was to put a small battery in the engine compartment and the other in the boot.
