Have many of you in the UK taken out the service plan for a fixed amount each month? Reading through various threads I see that some of you have even been lucky enough to have had this thrown in with your new Eos. I also see that breakdown and recovery may be included in this package. I was never offered this plan when I took delivery, but have since been offered it, the catch is that I understand that it must be taken out within 1 month of purchasing the car. As I got mine on 1st March this does not leave v.long! Also, I bought my car in Manchester (best deal) but live in London and I have been advised by VW that I can only buy this plan from the dealership who sold me the car and the dealership in Manchester said it is only valid if servicing is carried out by them. This is despite being advised by my local VW garage that this a nationwide policy and the service can be undertaken at any VW garage. How can VW make such a great car, when the back-up support is non-existent?!

Hi
I will soon subscribe for the 3 year extended warranty at a one-shot price (in France, not in UK). Both various forums and 4 different car magazines clearly instructed to go for the 3 yr warranty plan mainly due to the roof mechanism, in case it requires troubleshooting. They also advised NOT to subscribe for the full maintenance + warranty plan, which they claim was a steal given its price...

eos3, in France did you also get a 3-year warranty when your Eos was new and if so, does that mean you are extending it to 6 years? Will look into that but I guess it depends on the price...

Ninjadonkey, I don't have the paperwork in front of me but off the top of my head, I think I was quoted £12.97/month over 32 months as an example. Not sure why 32 and not 36 months! It didn't state how many miles.

By the way, the product is run by VW Financial Services. Also, you don't need finance to use it. I assume it gets added to repayments for those who bought the car on finance... I just pay the £26 by direct debit each month...

Also, you don't need to take it out when the car is new. I took mine out when the car was 5 months old. You just choose the term, so I did 4 years minus 5 months.....

i got mine free with the car but you can only take extended warranty when the original warranty has ran out i thought that was a bit daft really.

I also have the plan and tyre insurance as when I had my R32 I had a puncture and it cost me £240. As my EOS has 18" tyres (the same as the R32) I thought this was a good offer.

Thanks for your helpful comments everyone. Think I'll pop into my local VW garage tomorrow (only if it's not raining as don't want any rain marks!!) and if no luck there, then will speak to VW Financial Services directly. You'd think VW want to sell the service plan, but from my experience, clearly not!

Hi Simon,

Just a couple of questions...

Mine's about £26 a month and is until the 4th anniversary of the car....

Just had first service and it cost me nothing! :)
I think I'm right in saying you've got the 18" alloys. Does your service plan cover the tyres also?

I was quoted £715.76 for 3 years and am not sure if that includes tyres. I'll probably give them a call when I get chance to find out but I don't think I'll need the tyre cover as I've got the standard 17" Solitudes.

You've also got that mod for the car which does the funky remote open/close, allowing the roof to go up/down when moving and some other bits and bobs. When you took the car in for the service did you remove the mod? I presume they didn't notice it...!

Cheers

Hi
no, the standard warranty for cars is 1 year, and only some Japanese and Korean manufacturers offer more than that as standard. So it's actualy a 2 year extension of the initial 1 year warranty...
