I'm due to collect my Eos on Wednesday. The dealer has suggested that I take up VW's 3 year pre-paid service plan for a price of £225.00. To me, this seems quite good value as every time I take my current car (Toyota Avensis) for a service it always costs at least £200 for one service.
Has anyone any views on whether this prepaid service is worth shelling out £225 for?
Kind regards,
John.

Steph,
Thanks for that. I think that pricewise overall, I have probably negotiated as cheap a deal as is reasonable to expect for an Eos as they seem to be one of the few cars in demand at the moment.
I know that I won't be going back to this dealer again & he knows this as we live at opposite ends of the country. I think that I might try for some free mats, etc., if I go through with the service programme. After all, the first & third service is only an oil change & the 2nd one is an inspection plus oil change. If I went to a local garage (non VW agent) they would probably only charge about £75 for an oil change. I have always tried to get a dealer's stamp on my service record with every car I have owned in recent years but I am wondering about the prudence of this. The dealer who is taking the car in p/ex didn't want to know about the service record although other dealers did specify that the car must be fully main dealer serviced before they would become interested in p/ex. You pays your money & you takes your choice!
Kind regards,
John.

If I'm not mistaken, for 2009 models the 3 yr service plan is included (in the USA)

Darren,
Thanks for that but I suspect if I mention that, the reply will be something akin to " Ah yes, but that's in the US." However, StephB got hers for free, albeit a year or so ago so, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Will let you know how I get on.
Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to Wedneday.
Kind regards,
John.

Steph,
Given a dry day on Wednesday, I'll be driving back with the roof stowed but I'll make sure it goes back again before I leave the dealer. Thanks for the tip!
Kind regards,
John. PS Will take my camera with me & try & take a couple of photos on the forecourt before I set off on my maiden journey while the car is still pristine!

Steph,
Thanks for that. Obviously, I don't know too much about the Eos yet. It sounds as though the roof is still giving problems although I was assured by the dealer that all roof problems were now fully sorted - he hadn't seen an Eos in the workshop with a roof problem for a good 6 months. We'll see. Thanks for the offer of sending you a PM. Watch this space!
Kind regards,

Hi John, I took my 2009 Eos at the beginning of November, just clocked over 2000 miles on the way to work this monring, I have not experienced any problems with the roof, no leaks, nothing.

I say that but my partner had a problem of her doing, she borrowed the car one weekend to show off to her brother and I got a call saying she could not close it, she did not realise that there is a small delay before the roof starts closing when you pull the switch, she was not giving it enough time to activate and thought there was a fault.

Generally it opens/closes without much delay but sometimes it seems like there is one, such as when you have the top down and all the windows also down; the first phase of the roof closing is to drop all the windows, so even though they are already down the systems still spends 3 or 4 seconds thinking it's lowering them! So it appears as though nothing is happening when it's actually doing its performance!

Neh321,

Thanks for that.
Have just had a call from the dealer saying that he had made a mistake about the 3 year service plan - it doesn't apply to an Eos! I will take this up with them tomorrow when I collect the car & will quote examples like Stephb, getting 3 years service for nothing.

Kind regards,
John.

To be honest i got a sales guy that had not been fully trained, when I said i wanted extras like the chicago alloys he said i'd get them free then run to his boss and ask and then say he made a mistake. In the end i said i wanted something free or i'll go else where i got free mats 3 years free servicing a couple of key rings :)

Steph,
I wonder if my salesman has been fully trained? He sent me a brochure on the 3 year service plan which mentioned most VW models but not the Eos, Phaeton or Tourag. I just thought that he had sent me an out of date brochureI'll let you know how I get on tomorrow after I have collected the car. Early night tonight as it will be about 10 hours driving tomorrow. Still, the last hours should be very enjoyable!
Kind regards,
John.

Sorry, but I have to clarify, regardless of what people say, there was never any fundamental problems with the roof.... A few rattles in the internal plastic trim and some leaks in rare cases (or where lubrication of seals had been neglected)...
