Hi all, a few questions for you.
1) Where is the aerial? Not important but I'm just curious.
2) The UK 2008 Spec (mine) brochure mentions an SD card reader, Touch screen Sat Nav and Hard Drive in the radio specs, mine has none of these, just a radio/satnav,Any ideas?
3) If the MFD has an option for "mirror down" would you expect that to be fitted/operational?
Any info much appreciated.
Just had roof down today for first time (6 C) but snug and very enjoyable, roll on summer!!

I can only help you with 1). It's in the (Plastic) boot lid.

The MFD2 unit is a Satnav / radio - seems like this is the one fitted to your Eos.
The RNS510 aka MFD3 has a touchscreen, card reader and hard disc. These has not been available for long, so you might have missed the changeover and ended up with the older MFD2. If you have the RNS510 the screen can be lifted by pushing a button and will then reveal the SD card slot(s)

Mine has a diversity antenna, which ever one has the strongest signal is the one that gets used. It keeps checking for signal strength and then selects the strongest antenna. One is in the trunk(boot) lid not sure about the other. Mine came with the Sat. Sirrus radio so that might make a difference.
The Sat. subscription was included. We are not going to continue it. It occasionally has "linking" problems, only a second or two and only here in the mountains. Nice feature, just not right now.

Mine doesn't do that but it's in the MFD option list. I suspect it might only be activated as part of the luxury pack.

Even the humble RCD300 has diversity - it's standard across all the range. There are 2 antennas in the boot lid - one is FM only, the other AM/FM. The SatNav antenna is also mounted in the boot lid

UK/European spec cars do not have the option of satellite radio.
DAB is also missing from the option list (same as digital satellite radio but on about 200Mhz and free), which is why the RCD300 has been removed and consigned to storage. Have fitted a DAB unit instead and when get some time / decent weather will strip the boot lining and modify the antenna setup as have zero interest in AM reception. The one helpful thing VW did was to run 2 antenna cables to the boot lid from the stereo - very handy for a hidden DAB antenna.

3)About the MFD and the mirror-down
Mirror down is a function for parking. When you drive backwards/or just switch the R gear the right/passenger mirror/goes down,so you will be able to look at the curb and avoid scramping your rims.
You should have parktronic system.MFD is used only for swithing it off.
I hope you'll understand:D
