Has anyone any data on the accuracy of the average fuel useage on the MFD? Mine appears to understate the total average useage per tank by about 10%. 6.4 l/100kms actual 7.0 l/100kms.

During the last fill I checked mine, the MFD indicated 8.4l/100k since the last fill during which time I had travelled 400 ks, my calculations yielded a result of 8.5l/100k.

My MFD consistently shows about 6.5l/100km.
This should give me a range of about 850km/tank.
However, based on my calculations, it is more like 750km, or about 7.3l/100km.
I find that the last 1/4 of the tank produces much less that 1/4 of the total range.

Oddly enough my previous Golf 1.9TDI yielded much the same variances, although it was a little more economical.

There is a TB on the VWVortex site with an explanation on the fuel guage discrepancies but it doesn't explain my observations, nor bneeos's.

I don't remember the actual numbers, but I think my MFD mileage reads about .5 MPG high.

Did some checks on mine last year between fill ups. Discovered that the MFD reads between 0.5 to 1.0 mpg higher than actual.
