Thought I would show a couple of shots of my Nuvi 350 GPS in my Eos. My feeling about the location are that it's great when using the Nuvi. However, it does look a little slocky without the Nuvi connected.

Nuvi 360 on sandbag base

I have the Nuvi 360 with a sandbag friction base from Garmin, I really like it, I did a 500 mile trip on Texas Hill country road with 0 slippage. really good! and it's a bit bulky, but I kept it with the charger in my glove box when not used it has 2 great points
1, it doesn't put undue stress on the vents and blocking AC and
2, it doesn't leave an unsightly ring on the windshield on the suction cup mount which I hated.

I totally agree about the suction cup mount. The only time I use mine is on a rental car. The mount about is from Proclipusa and is not putting ANY stress on the vents as it is wedged on at the seam on top and the seam above the radio. Very tight and sturdy.

I does block or more accurately defuse the air coming from the vent behind it. I don't find that to be a big deal. While there are other mounting options, I prefer this nearly eye level view. Very easy to make changes while underway.

Other than the huge cost saving going with a portable GPS, I also like the ability to change option underway (which a lot of factory installation will not allow because of the lawyers.)
