Hi -- I can't answer your question because I ordered my car on June 15th and it hasn't even reached port yet. My dealer was "sure" it would arrive in September -- apparently delays happen no matter what information they may get.
I think there are some members here who waited even longer than 5 months. Hang tough -- concensus says it's worth the wait!

Here in the US the time from build to delivery on customer ordered cars used to be 8 weeks. It seems to have gone up some. There could be any number of reasons from production issues to transportation issues. The dealers can track general dates for different steps along the way as the info is on a VW tracking system available to the dealers (at least in the US). How dealers in other parts of the world track the cars I don't know. Whatever the wait time, the car is definitely worth it.
IMRAN - mine was ordered on 12th August and I was told it 'should be here end October'. As we left the showroom my wife said 'I just have a feeling it will be November 6th'. When the wife went to put my personal nbr plate on retention at DVLA she got talking to a dealer who had come to Lincoln from Grimsby where the cars dock and he said it takes 5 days from when they dock to clear port, and the dealer will know 10 days before they are due at his showroom! As soon as the car leaves Portugal to go to Germany for the PDI, your dealer will be able to track it. Amazingly my car is due at our dealers on - yes you got it - November 6th - Spooky or what. Anyway we take delivery next Saturday (cruise control being fitted.) Counting down the hours now! Good Luck with your delivery.
