Anyone know what the deal is about the air conditioning port in the glove box? I don't have my manual right with me, but I think it said the port should be closed unless you have the air conditioning on.

Is this suppose to be a mini-refrig?

I understand that it was done to give people the capability to keep small items that would fit in the glovebox like makeup cool in hot weather. Don't know if the air outlet when open blows warm air in the winter - my guess is that it does.

Hummmmmmmmmm. It might be good for a big chocolate bar also. It probably does blow hot air as the manual says the outlet should be shut unless you have the A/C on.

Glovebox AC

Agree with SiJ2000

From previous experience on Passat it blows whatever AC is set on so cool for choc in summer but be careful in Winter !!!

I saw a post on VW Vortex that someone had their blower fan destroyed when a pen dropped down through that AC air vent when it was open. The poster said "never never put anything besides the VW owners book in the book holder above the a/c vent hole as this happened to him.

Wow....

That's a good reason to shut access off to the glove box outlet unless you need it for some reason. I think to shut it off, you just turn the outer right about a half turn or so.
