All my roof seals are maintained and working fine, but for a couple of weeks I've had an infuriating and intermittent squeeking noise coming from the boot. Once you are tuned in to something like that it is impossible to ignore even with the radio turned up. I tried turning the securing nut for the spare wheel tighter but that wasn't the problem. After much head scratching and twiddling bits in the boot looking for souces of squeeks I found the culprits. The two spring loaded black rubber cushions on the edge of the boot lip made a hell of a squeek when depressed. As the car bumps along, the noise must be amplified by the boot area. The remedy? Aim the nozzle of some WD40 (easier with the supplied red straw) into the holes and give a liberal squirt. Problem solved!
