I bought an EOS today!

In the rain...isn't that when everyone goes to buy a convertible? I was pleased, it allowed me to see if it was leaking. And, after reading various threads here, I had already made them let me run it through the car wash.

2009 EOS Komfort with the fancy lights and navigation options. Eismeer Blue with the Cornsilk beige interior.

6M, 17" wheels...

Now, to find all the seal-lubrication tips.

I probably should have gone w/ a non-navigation system one, but it seemed oh-so nifty, so now I have it, and will play around with it.

Morning from the south of the United Kingdom. Let me be the first to welcome you to ownership of what can only be described as a wonderful car.

There are lots of tips on this site about the seals including type of product to use and when and where to lubricate.

Having the navigation is nice as it finishes off the dash board a treat. The jury is still out for some on whether the satnav in the EOS is as good as some aftermarket portable ones that you can take from car to car.

Personally, I find it very good, I feel that in the UK the satnav comes into it's own when you come to sell the car or part exchange it as the dealers usually like a car specced with lots of options.

Anyway, welcome and enjoy the car, you really wont be sorry.

I had to go out to the car to get the sticker.

Let's see. 2.0 TFSI, 17" allow wheel upgrade,
Splash guards (? need to call and find out what this is, is this the carpet mats?),
rubber mats (love these, Monster mats....I live on a farm),
It says in-dash 6 disc CD changer, except, it has the Navigation Infotainment package w/ mdi, and there is not room inside for the harddrive AND the 6 cd changer, so it is a single CD.
Has the USB port with the cable provided, need to find a iPod to USB converter so I can upload tunes.
Eismeer Blue/Cornsilk Beige. Technology package
6 speed Manual. Hate automatics.

Love the car.

My other car was a Jetta and I almost kept my MelsJetta userid from the tdiclub forums. But, that is now to be my son's car.

Testing signature

Todd,
Thanks for the link for the seals...and thanks for an almost identical car so I could copy/paste/edit your signature for mine!;)

MelsEOS, no problem. My carpets were in the trunk. The monster mats you paid extra for. Funny thing, when I knew the new car was on its way I purchased a set of Monster mats on line. Then I go to pick up our new car, and I was upset because I didn't see the carpets. They had monster mats in the car already and the carpets in the trunk. Now I have two sets. One still in the box.

I'm feeling grumpy about the Navigation system.

I want that 6 cd changer, and it was listed as part of the equipment.

At first, I was happy that there was storage space on the car, but I can't seem to get the iPod to play when plugged in. I'm not sure if it has to be plugged in w/ both the USB adaptor AND a plug that goes to the headset thing or what...

I am debating if I should go and insist that the 6 cd changer be put into the center console and they move the media outlet, or the changer in the glovebox and leave the media outlet....

But, I'm digging around to see if I can find an external HDD that I can test out. We have one, but I need to get some tunes on it.

I'll take a DVD out there to test that out. So far I am less than impressed with the Nav. system's usability for uploading...and the instruction manual is a not the best.

I see you have a USA Eos. I was just on the US VW website and there it clearly says IF you choose the Nav system, it deletes the 6 CD player AND the ipod player.

If that's true about the ipod player, you can still play IF the '09 had the "audio in" jack in the center console. You need a separate cord with a jack at either end and of course, one end will to into the headset jack on the ipod. To play this way, "press" the CD button on the radio twice (I think). The radio should then display "aux in". Start your ipod and use the radio volume controls. No music data is displayed.

If you don't like the GPS to the point where you would rather have the 6 unit CD player, you probably could work out a trade here and put a few coins in your pocket to boot. Or to use to get someone to do the swap. Perhaps your dealer will swap you out.

When you specify the SatNav, the CD changer becomes a remote unit that lives under the arm rest in the centre console. If you didn't get it with the car, it can be retro fitted.

I am not sure if it can be used in parallel with the Aux jack, as they may use the same wiring and button sequence from the head unit.

It may clearly be on the VW website, but it was not clearly on the sticker.

After sleeping on it...

I'll go back. I want one of two things, either they retrofit me the 6 cd changer that the RNS-510 booklet outlines-and Geoffa1 - in either glovebox (or center console including moving the media jack to the glovebox), or I'd rather have the other system with just the in-dash CD changer with a credit for the Nav system upgrade, the getting data onto the car's hard drive is looking like a royal PITA. I will be satisfied with either option, so I will let them determine which is the least-cost route for them.

When I was comparing two cars side by side for the radio features (and I did this WITH my son's iPod) the non-Nav system just played the iPod when I plugged it into the jack inside the console. I did not have the iPod/USB wire, but was lead to believe that it would be a plug/play activity. The car sees a media device IF I select Aux Input in the menu, but it doesn't play it. And, to expect me to have an iPod that is connected to a device through the USB port also connected through the headphone jack is just stupid.

I will also suggest that they reprint stickers for the cars w/ Nav system if they do not intend to include a 6 cd changer as the book shows.
But, I adore the Technology package lights!

Welcome MelsEOS!
Nice to see another US EOS. Do you have the new mirrors on the 2009? VW seems to spec these cars out differently depending on which country, or part of the world these cars are sold. Do you see other EOS in your area? In Hawaii, we have very few on the streets. The Dealer does not seem to stock them or advertise them.
Enjoy the car, it is a lot of fun!

The EOS is quite popular around here. In fact, the night I bought it, after my friend drove my Jetta home for me (it is to be my son's car) we went to dinner and parked next to an earlier year Eismeer Blue EOS at a vietnamese restaurant.

That was amusing.

Mine does have the new mirror styling.

Can't wait to drive into work today. I carpooled w/ my hubby yesterday in his car, so I haven't driven it much yet.

Still having issues with the HDD. It will go into the dealer today to let them start working on that issue. So far it won't read the SD card unless it is in the USB port. When it is in the USB port, it will play the music, but it won't enable copy for anything. Haven't tested a DVD out yet.
