I had my EOS tuned for the APR-93 Octane and absolutely love it. The performance increase is VERY noticeable with peak horsepower at 252 Hp, and torque at 303 Lb-Ft! Also, since the engine is tuned to run much more efficiently, my gas mileage has actually gone up by nearly 5 mpg (assuming I am not pushing the vehicle)! If there is a downside, it is in the "off-the-line" performance. The power boost turns the tires over very easily and if you are really pushing the vehicle from the line you must turn off traction control. Otherwise the car lunges as traction control attempts to take over with alternate braking of each wheel. I had the dual programs installed such that, through the use of the cruise buttons, I can toggle between stock program and performance program. This option is important if 93-octane is not available or if taking the car to the dealer for service. With the car toggled to stock program, APR is undetectable by technicians.

Question:
Does anyone have 1/4-mile track times on the Eos with this chip? If so, please post...I am interested to see real world performance improvement data.

Where are you located and did you "chip" the car yourself or have someone do it? Do you have the stick or the auto? If you have the auto, do you have any worries about extra transmission wear with the increased torque?

I am located in the Detroit, MI area and had the chip tuned by Steve's European Automotive. Steve's is a high-performance auto shop specializing in Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche vehicles. I spent a good amount of time with Steve discussing the merits of this chip upgrade and he spent a great deal of time explaining the capable performance of the 2.0T engine. After our discussions, I felt confident in the decision to upgrade my engine's chip.

To answer your question, my Eos is an automatic and I may have concern if my primary pursuit was to continually push this vehicle and use it for racing on a regular basis. In reality, even though the tuned chip delivers increased torque, much is lost simply by the turning-over of the tires. When pushed to the max, the tires simply turn-over and squeal. The chip, however, does offer much greater "passing" capability at highway speeds. Having said that, I may take the car to a local 1/4-mile track this spring and see what it's new capability is...that was the main focus of my original post...curiosity as to what to expect at the track.

I dont think the 3.2 can be chipped in the same way as it has no turbo. You have to look to other areas to tune the 3.2.
