Well, I got my Eos last July, but by September I had already begun drooling over the Scirocco... That says it all, really. The Eos is a fine car, but not really for me and I ordered the new Golf GTI today.

Thanks for all the fun posts and I wish you lots of happy, roof-down miles :)

Care to share with us the amount of depreciation you sustained for reference, just to put all other costs into perspective? Thanks.

Paid €31000 in July 08, sold for €29500 this week. About 5% loss. And before you ask: I got a big regular customer/business user discount when I bought, and I waited for the sunny weather to arrive before selling :)

:D So, why not the Scirroco in the end?

I went to VW and honestly felt like seating in my Alfa 147 8 years ago!!! the Scirroco looks ok, but it is not at all the revolution it could have been!

Bye bye, other France-based EOS owner :)

A staggeringly low figure for depreciation FrEos, but you were able to get it real cheap, and €1500 is nothing for the fun you have had from it. I doubt I will be so fortunate when I flick mine. Good luck with the Golf. At least you will have the latest TSI engine [EA888] to enjoy.

The main problem I had with the Scirocco is the fact that the interior is exactly the same as on the Eos. Objectively, that's no bad thing, it's just that I would feel as if I hadn't changed cars. Also, after 'suffering' the cramped rear of the Eos, I wanted something slightly more practical... and with a lot more power than my 140hp diesel Eos.

The Eos was my first convertible and will probably be my last. While the formula looks enticing on paper, I found that using the car's best feature - its roof - was nigh-on impossible. Wind noise means that top-down motoring is only realistic when you're by yourself and, IMHO, not being able to share such pleasures with loved ones is a big negative.

Anyway, no offense intended to those who enjoy their Eos - it's a fine car, as I said, but it just didn't suit me :)

They're all great cars anyway so sure you will be happy with your GTi FrEos! You'll have to change your moniker though!
