Another UK owner here without the aux in - I didn't opt for an ipod connector (as my mp3 player is not an ipod). Will have to live with the gadgets that transmit from mp3 player to a FM radio frequency instead (substandard I know).

I am amazed at the differences between our cars option and standards on a regional and country basis. I have this, you don't have that. Why don't they just make the same car for all of us. But I guess the we wouldn't have much to write about :)

I asked my dealer today about whether I can get the Aux In connector fitted to my Eos. He wasn't sure about it but after a minute on hold he'd come back and found something about it.
He said it was about £20 which sounds sorta right.

I'm just wondering how you use the aux in as there's no button to choose Aux on my RCD 500.

Does anyone have any idea how you actually go about getting sound from the Aux port before I go ahead and buy this thing?

Can you tell me if you got it fitted after you bought the car?
I'm being told they can't fit an Aux socket into the car glove box. They're looking into one which might go into the arm rest but this will cost a load more!

and its safer in the arm rest as you can get to it without leaning across the car! hides away your playback device what ever it is.

Hi all if you would like an aux in kit for your Eos then please drop me a line/email as I have made a kit that I made up and had install on my P D I on my Eos This kit is made up of a OEM multimedia socket and connecters and and after market interface, this connects in to external six cd changer plug on the quadlock system. It looks just like the factory fit and will work on the Delta, Delta 6, RCD 200, 300, 500, and MFD 2 if a 6 cd changer is not fitted. We Both Have 4 gig mp 3 player which hold a lot of tunes on them. Ipod, mp3, mp4,walkman(sony) and audio from a laptops and portable dvd players MOST THINGS THAT USE A 3.5 mm Jack (ie headphones) can be played on your car system without the big cost which come with installing a dvd/satnav system. I've tested the kit on my RCD 500 ON MY EOS, RCD 300 IN MY CADDY VAN, AND THE DELTA IN MY SONS R32. The more that would like the kit the more I can get of the cost of parts full instructions will be sent with the kit.

My VW dealer had lost four orders cos the time on a factory order being about 16 weeks and the aux in is factory fit only, they have asked me to make three kits up for them, as they will fit a large range of Vdubs.

Some of you are saying how much at the moment the interface is £40 the full kit made up cost me £49.37 but an Ipod kit is £130 and only play an Ipod the MMS (aux in) is a true multimedia input. I HOPE TO GOT THIS COST DOWN TO UNDER £40 Plus postage and packing.

A lot of you from the post above seemed to be looking for an answer to the problem, i got the answer cos I wanted this in my car.:) PM me if you would like one or more.

All kits will be tested in a unit before delivery.

The new RCD510 unit comes as standard now on high-spec Eos (option on base models), so I can't really see the point of the Aux input, anyway. In fact, iPod preparation is no longer offered, because the standard SD card slot + 6CD changer allow for literally thousands of MP3 tracks to be stored.

The ipod option is no longer offered not because it's no more needed (LOL) but because there is a new one coming. 6 CD + SD will not even come close to what an iPod storage is but it's not the storage that matters but the portability and iPod is leader.

I agree. Although i was a little disappointed when i ordered my Eos in May that later in the month a slightly revised 09 model range was coming out, when i realised that iPod connectivity was no longer an option i was pleased i'd got in first.

cost effect ipod setup

I have an aux in fitted (£25). A small piece of double sided velcro tape and a 3.5mm audio cable. It keeps the ipod in place, provides all ipod functions include track name and cover art, what more could you ask for ? :)

Nice Job Dobbo

I pick up my EOS on Friday and I will be doing a very similar install, although I have an Ipod Nano so I am hoping I can wedge it into one of the cup holders without the need for velcro.

I tried that but the iPod kept falling over. The velco strip is black and hardly shows on the black trim.
